"No CD" errors are typical with applying patches to pirate copies of the game or to legally-purchased downloaded versions (TryMedia, etc), but the latter do not come with CDs.

so you mean that my game is not legal and my cd is a pirate copy??

Not necessarily. What's written on the CD or box? Any company (publisher, etc) names, besides Team17?
Edit:
Could you also provide some more details about all the errors you receive when you try to play the game, and your system specifications.
Also, as long as the computer you're installing it on has a working internet connection, you ONLY need the 3.6.28.0 update. The 3.0 patch is only for if the PC doesn't have a connection, as the 3.6.28.0 updater automatically downloads all required updates. Try completely removing and reinstalling the game, then applying the 3.6.28.0 update.
And thomasp, you get NO-CD errors if patching is done when you don't need it, so it could easily apply.

My mistake, thanks for clearing that up. Only thought that was the case with Trymedia and pirated/cracked versions.

The only time you don't need to patch is if you got the trymedia or cracked versions. it is perfectly safe to patch then run the 3.6.28.0 update because it causes no harm to install the 3.0.0 update over itself >.>
Of course installing the 3.0.0 update over 3.628.0 may cause 'no cd' errors (i highly doubt it) but doing that is just stupid :P
I said PATCH, not UPDATE, and you should read the worms2d.info faq, it has all of those unneeded points

well, I would like to specify my errors so I can help you: first, if i try playing the game directly after installing it it runs prperly and i can go to all the menus in the game except when i press start a game a black screen shows up and the computer freezes. Second, when i install the patch and run the game, an application error occurs it says "memory could not be read". Third, when I install the 3.0 update, an error occurs saying "the ordinal 6929 could not be located". Fourth when I install the 3.6.28 update, it causes a no cd error.
I have a win xp sp2, 2.6 GHz, 512mb RAM, and 128 video RAM plz help me and thanks a lot
Before you applied any patches or updates, what version of WA were you running?

Please answer this question. It is very important.

well, nothing is written besides Team 17!
What does ..\Data\Resource\version.txt on your CD contain?
How many language subfolders are in that same folder?
hanismarty

It's written"V1.05E/19-1-99" and there is only one subfolder for the English language.

Please run (using Start -> Run) the command
cmd /C dir /S W:\ > C:\filelist.txt
substituting W with the drive letter of the drive you have the W:A CD in. Then, compress and upload the file filelist.txt from your C:\ drive.

sorry, but didn't understand, I ran what u wanted but a black screen showed up, I ran fillist.txt but what do you want me to do with it?
compress and upload it to the forum. In XP, right click --> send to --> compressed (zipped folder), then in the full reply box on this forum (not quick reply) press manage attachments and find the zip, then post the reply.

Hey everyone, just bought a new CD and it worked perfectly! I guess the problem was with the old CD, so I just wanted to thank you for trying cause I really appreciate what you did. Thanks again and i am really happy to play this great game!

Glad to hear that :) However I still wouldn't mind finding out what was the cause of the problem with your old CD. If that CD was an official version, then everyone who would buy similar CDs won't be able to play with the newer versions, while we might be able to make the Betas compatible with such CDs...
