Umm...
Do signatures show up as regular font now for anybody else, or is just my computer acting up?

Umm...

So thats what they upgraded!

Nope, they made it different. Same's happening on my computer.

EDIT: There's a big gap on the who's online bit, which makes it look ugly.

Same in our profiles.

Anyway, my suggestion is to turn it back to normal. It looks ugly. (to me anyway)

Notice that everything is in the middle.

Yup, it would appear something's got broken - probably a skin somewhere. Will let volc. know.

Not quite sure I understand what you're asking there...

It seems in the upgrade, the template that handles signatures for the two forum skins ("Team17" & "Retro Purple") has changed, and not been updated. Standard thing to happen in upgrades.

Edit:

If there are any other bugs or glitches, please post here and we'll try to fix them ASAP.

Right... well i could print screens of what i can see, and post them here, or PM them to you.

EDIT: What would you like?

Print screen and stick it in this thread - then others can confirm/deny it, so we can see if it's an isolated bug or not.

Right, here's some images of what i can see in profiles, and in forums.

http://img403.imageshack.us/img403/2020/team17forum1zc0.png

As you can see, the threads are not next to the topic icons, instead they are in the middle, which looks a bit ugly.

http://img403.imageshack.us/img403/1430/superfrea22ee1.png

Same thing here... the avatar should be somewhere else... so should the name....

http://img233.imageshack.us/img233/3306/t17forum2ur7.png

Also this picture, the categories are in the middle.....

http://img225.imageshack.us/img225/4773/t17forum3jz7.png

And the who's browsing the forum bar looks weird.

and another thing-the same happens with you viewing your private messages too.

I can't post that pic because imageshack has gone slow all of a sudden....

But this is what i am experiencing.

I'm not getting that here, empty your browser's cache & try again. Or try FireFox.

Looks like lots of the text has been centred, all fine on my pc though :-/

Although the signatures are confusing in post font...

I don't have firefox, and how do i empty my browser's cache?

Plasma

It does that on IE7 for me, but not FireFox.
Also, I doubt clearing your cache will do it either.

Oh.

Also, before the upgrade started, it was fine, and no text was centered.

When i come back when the upgrade has finished, it happened.

This must be a glitch for IE 7 users, or Internet Explorer users, i guess.

thomasp

I'm betting this is a glitch with vB3.6.9 and IE7 then...

Although I've just checked on the vB website and there don't seem to be any listed bugs relating to this, so it could just be a glitch here. It may well be a case of putting up with it till vB3.7's out (next week or so), although we might not upgrade to that immediately.

This new thing with the new threads in the middle and stuff me doesn't like.

I'm on Opera.

Oh, so it happens on Opera too. Very strange.....

So this is an Opera and IE 7 glitch, then.

Or maybe more browsers have the same glitch.

thomasp
21 Apr 2008, 21:10
I can confirm it occurs in Opera too, but FF and Safari render the pages fine.

I'm going to split this into a new thread, as it's generating quite a bit of a response...

Why?! Why Is Everything Center-aligned?

And Why Can I Not Shout?

This reminds me, the RVG templates need sorting. Not that any of the changes are debilitating in any way, they're just a sodding pain when you have a few custom template mods.

I'm not suffering any centering tho. But those signatures. Oh, those signatures! :(

The centering text is a bug i believe, i've seen it on other forums where viewing in IE centeres it all but in FF it is all left aligned.

Raahhh!
Images in posts (for example the screenshots Shadowmoon posted) don't get resized anymore, but show up in full size.
That adds a nasty horizontal scrollbar when using retro purple fixed. :(

That never happened - at least not for me...

Shadowmoon is using the IMG tag, rather than attaching via the forum.

It never happened for me before either.
Images would just be cut off, with a horizontal scrollbar within the respective post.
Now the whole page has the scrollbar and the respective post is also distorted.

It's just like when you use too many characters and the tables get broken.

I'm aware of that.

Well, like you said, you prefer people to use IMG tags, and not attach pictures.

Anyway, its perfectly fine on my computer now, so it must be fixed.

YAY!:D

I've always had the behaviour you now get, with the whole page having a scrollbar, but just the one post being stretched outside the usual table. Although I only browse the forum in Safari...

That's because the forum will sometimes automatically downsize attachments to 480x480px, meaning they won't break the tables. Other times it'll just shout at you.

That's exactly what I mean.
I get it in both in FF2 and IE7.

Metal Alex

let me guess, laptop? either that, or widescreen. At least, that's my case :p

his screen must have been in a low resolution when he took the image.

Melon
22 Apr 2008, 23:09
Although his post fits on my widescreen monitor, what used to happen for me was that the individual post would get a scroll bar appended to it, rather than the entire screen. This no longer happens.

Just testing it now, if this long image annoys people, let me know and I'll remove it.

http://www.kieranmillar.com/looooong.png

Just for the record, I think I actually prefer it this way, because my scroll wheel is bust, so I click down the middle mouse button to scroll the page, and now I can freely scroll sideways, where as before I couldn't, so I had to keep scrolling to the bottom of the post to scroll, then scroll back up to see the image.

Does that make any sense?

EDIT: I have now realised that I hate this change, as text no longer always wraps to fit the screen. Now it will quite happily stretch off to the side of the screen, requiring me to keep scrolling to the right to read the sentence.

I've had a poke around on our forum (www.realvg.org) and I can't find the cause of the problem. We're getting the same thing, and our postbit is carefully preserved. I presumed posts were kept inside a CSS box with scrolling enabled in the past, but from what I can see, posts are contained inside a div with id=post_message_pid where 'pid' is the id of the post. A look in the CSS file reveals no class with a similar name. I'm far from an expert at CSS and vB though.

franpa

Melon, didn't your Text not wrap anyways? didn't you still have to scroll within your post to read what you typed?

Not before. How it was before was that text never ever required sideways scrolling to read, even if a wide image created a scroll bar within that post. This no longer appears to be the case.

One thing that you'll need to have if you want to browse this forum is an understanding of when people are only joking.
