Having exhausted the possibilities in the Wine forums - I'm giving this a shot here - has anyone out there gotten W:A to run on Wine? If so, what version/patches are you using to get this to work? So far I've gotten W:A to install from the CD, and applied the latest beta update with no problems whatsoever, I can even get it to run, but it gives me a black screen - the menus and such appear to partially function in the background - i.e. i hear the sound effects when I mouse over buttons of the main menu.

If anyone has actually gotten W:A to work in Wine, please let me know and tell me how you did it!

I am a total linux newb, but I followed this site and it worked : ))

Maybe you want to read the thread I started ...
There is a link of another thread about the same topic in this topic, too

And if nothing helps, use the search function of this forum to find more threads

Good luck:rolleyes:

I used to use Worms in WINE, but that was a while back. That site ffc700 said - http://www.nanacide.com/wahelp does help

It doesn't work with the latest version of wine, you need a reasonably old version. I can't remember which version breaks it, but 3.0 works for me (I think it's 3.0), and other people have it working with much later versions.

For me it worked with the latest version ...
I couldn't change to an old version, because I had no admin rights on the computers ...

Are you sure it is the latest version? If you use aptitude or apt-get or another package manager, it might not be.

I'm not sure and I didn't use anything, because I had no admin rights .. I could do nothing ^^

The version was 0.9.44 ....

0.9.44 is mine aswell, i tried 9.60, 9.52 and they all failed. 9.44 only crashes when i try joining a host without succes. if this happens, the frontend rejects all my handling. so i restart wa and its fine again, i mean its working for a day by day use.
kb layout can be changed with intes keychange, it is the only programm that works (i tried key tweak autohotkey and intes keychange).

at ffc: u can try other versions with ./configure --prefix=/home/yourlogin/wine
then do make depend && make install in a source directory of wine(this may work dunno :) ), but this wont lead to better results. i tried other versions to come in wwp wormnet (with wwp using the same wine patch then in wa) but i didnt got it. :C
