View Full Version : Why is windows logo key disabled while wa.exe is running?
Ok, I did a search on the forum and found this old thread:
http://forum.team17.co.uk/showthread.php?t=26843 (http://forum.team17.co.uk/showthread.php?t=26843&highlight=%22win+key%22)
But it looks like the files are long offline, and I'm not sure if it would work properly with ahk running too.
So.. Is there some workaround to get my win key shortcuts working while i have WA running (even minimised)? If not, I request this "bug" fixed / feature implemented in the next beta release? Even if I'm right to assume the keys were intentionally disabled to prevent accidental jumping to desktop, it doesn't make sense when it's minimised.

We can't fix what's not broken, as the problem is with Windows. Windows will block hotkeys if WA.exe is running in full-screen (or something like that). Workarounds: rename WA.exe to something else, or use WormKit (http://worms.thecybershadow.net/wormkit/)'s AntiKeyboardHook module (which is what the tool you linked to evolved into).
There is alternative way to enable 'windows logo' and alt keys. It works (tested on WinXP). Check this: wkAntiKeyboardHook alternative (http://worms.cinus.org/antikeybhook/).
rename WA.exe to something else
Thanks for a great tip. I had no idea this could solve the problems with non-functional keys in Windows while WA minimized.
Why is this solution unknown (IMHO) to many players? Does it have any disadvantages?

Not many people visit this site. Also, there are two (http://worms.thecybershadow.net/wormkit/) other (http://worms.cinus.org/antikeybhook/) solutions, at least one of which (the latter one) should work just as well as this one without the disadvantages.
Does it have any disadvantages?
Anything that relies on W:A being called WA.exe will fail, unless they have manual workaround features.

That's more or less what CyberShadow said. In the post right before yours.

My English isn't good, so perhaps I've been misunderstood...
I meant:
For very long time there is well known CyberShadow's solution - using wkAntikeyboardHook.dll WK module.
(I used this solution till I changed my comp's processor to dual core athlon. After that I discovered that wkAntikeyboardHook.dll doesn't work anymore on it.) And there is alternative solution - NOT using wkAntikeyboardHook.dll, BUT do 1 change in Windows Registery INSTEAD.
(I use this solution only on my new comp.)
That's why 2nd solution is called wkAntikeyboardHook.dll alternative.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\AppCompatFlags]
{deb49ed9-c3fb-49fd-9bb5-bac9f4e7a069} = dword:00000001
This solution doesn't require WormKit module and changing of the WA.exe file name. But I m not sure if works on Vista (tested only in Windows XP).
No, pleAse, how du I get da monkeys in da WA, plz
????
You post that how long after he was corrected? why did you bother?
