Resolution problem - HELP

I set the resolution in the options menu to 1024 x 768, but when i start the game, it appears to be on the lowest resolution possible. I think I have everything right, I'm playing on a Dell Inspiron laptop, but I dont know why its doing this. Can anyone help me?

Did you install the latest Beta update?

It's possible this resolution isn't supported by your video card or driver. To see the list of supported resolutions, open Display Properties from the Control Panel, on the Settings tab click "Advanced", then on the Adapter tab click "List All Modes...".

Are you running the game from an administrative account? It could be possible that your PC won't allow the registry change required to change the game's resolution. (I believe that's where resolution settings are stored)
I think if it was a case of an unsupported resolution, the game screen would simply be black.
