Trymedia? Oh dear. Take a look here to see how to get a refund and get a proper, patchable version (http://forum.team17.co.uk/showthread.php?t=33495)

I'm assuming you actually meant WA, this is the W2 section.

also, if you don't want to buy a CD version which is vastly superior then either scour the trymedia website for a old update or look at http://wa.team17.com for a old update to the game.

read the link MrBunsy posted in order to find out why the CD version is superior... ok, that doesn't list/mention why it is better -.-

Trymedia can only work at version 3.0.0.0, as TryGames have never released a patch that will work with their version of the game.

http://wa.team17.com/main.html?page=supp&area=upda

this says that 3.0.5.0 is the latest version for trymedia but only trymedia offer the update.

Franpa is right there.
The Trymedia version of WA works with version 3.0.5.0.
Years ago they even had a stand-alone patch available (which I still have on my HDD), but today the game comes pre-patched to that version.

therefor the copy he downloaded (if legal) should be 3.0.5.0 and not 3.0.0.0

Not that there's a massive difference between the two. Certainly not when compared to 3.6.28.0's infinite goodness.

Well, it's a good indication though whether someone has a legal copy or not.
IIRC, the Gametap downloadable version actually uses v3.6.22.1.

that i did not know! i've been assuming everyone with that particular version was using a old nocd crack.

Hmm.
Well, that could be true.
Someone I once played with told me that he has the Gametap version.
He could have been lying. :-/
