I need some people's opinions about this. A little while ago, I copied my WA disc onto another CD. It turned out to be good that I did that, because a short time afterwards, my original WA CD developed a crack in it which rendered it unusable. I want people's opinions on whether or not they think this is legal and/or right.

Nobody seems to mind if you use the image yourself and keep the disk away as well.

Regardless of whether it's legal or not, it's still "ethically right" to make as many copies as you want for yourself.

Afterall, Team17 got your money, didn't they?

It's legal to create a backup.
Although, you'd need to keep the cracked, original CD.

Certainly in the US this is true. In the UK, I'm not certain, although if there is a law, nobody ever enforces it and the moment they do it will almost-doubtless be repealed.

In the UK, the terms and agreements state that since you now own the rights to this software, you are legalised to have as many copies as you like providing you do not hand them out, sell them, rent them, or otherwise use them for public or commercial reasons.
