View Full Version : The baby name game

bonz

You probably heard that I'm going to become a father in about 7 months, so I need to come up with a name for the kid by then.

We won't determine the baby's sex, so I need both a boy and a girl's name.
One restriction:
I'll omit all names that I personally know somebody of, so your names are probably out.
Extraordinary names are preferred, so common names for example most Christian names are out too.

I'll be compiling a list and will have a poll with a reduced set in a few months.
Post away your suggestions!

(Yes, I'm a lazy slacker. :D)

Can't you just fire up Worms Forts and hit "random name"?

Samael. Now there's a name with religious background stuff!
As for a girl's name... well you could go with Lilith.

I'd do that too. The last thing you want is to have your kid remind you of someone you have good/bad feelings about.

Extraordinary names can be cruel. Try not to put any silly sounding ones in the poll, or everybody will vote for them. Then again, maybe that's what you want. :p

Wasn't there a "scam" on Facebook once where someone made a group suggesting that if a million people joined it they'd legally change the name of their firstborn to SpiderPig? Naturally when 2 million joined the creator said it was a scam.

No, he didn't say it was a scam. Indeed, he actually said "No, it was no scam. I've made no money and never intended on doing so.".

It was also 100,000 people needed. More info at http://oliyoung.com/spiderpig.html

Should we actually name the baby after one of the suggestion (either by coincidence or because we chose the name), you might become the online godfather of the child.

Those are a bit too obscure.

By "extraordinary names" I meant ones that not every second person has.

Did you know some moron celebrity lady or another has a daughter named "Apple?" For the love of GOD. What's with all the designer names these days? I mean, I'm all for non-convention, and a unique name that doesn't suck is all good and well, but seriously... APPLE. I'm so glad I wasn't named FRUIT. I believe the same lady also has a son named Moses, probably because naming him Jesus would attract some of the wrong attention.

On an entirely unrelated note, Sally sounds like it shout be the pet form of a name, but I can't think what the full name might be.

Unless it's Salicia, or something like that, which seems unlikely.

Pronounced: SAL-ee [key]
