Yes, I realise that the last time I had one of these ideas (Civ IV: OD) didn't go down very well because I'm not very reliable at the whole screenshot-taking thing. But this one's a bit different, because I intend it to be a collaborative effort.

OpenTTD (Open Transport Tycoon Deluxe) is, as it suggests, an open-source version of the deluxe version of Transport Tycoon. I know that quite a few ODers already have it.

So, here's the idea. A bunch of us ODers start a game of OpenTTD, rename all of the towns to OD members at the start, set up our HQs in the towns that are named after us, play the game, and hope that screenshot-based hilarity ensues. Yes.

Admit it, I've had worse ideas.

I'm all for gathering a bunch of people and playing OpenTTD, but why would you want to try and make a forum thing out of it? Sure, if something genuinly funny happens that would make a good screenshot, then by all means post it.. But those are two very unlikely events.

It'd be like writing our names on a chessboard and taking "hilarious" photos of the games played on it ;P

Man I haven't played OpenTTD in a while, that was a pretty big thing over this summer with OD though.

If sometime in the future I get free time that isn't procrastination, I'll probably be up for a round or too. I might be able to host anyway though, if necessary. I might even still have the old games stashed somewhere.

I vote we play 0.6.0-beta1 because it is awesome (plus chance to multiplayer beta-test). It's got trams, drive-through road stops, one-way roads, autoroad, flexible road/rail layout under bridges, advanced player faces, cities (bigger towns), signal autocomplete (automatically places signals along entire track), vehicle groups, timetables, articulated road vehicles, etc.

This looks like Sim City, only more train orientated.

So kind of a Sim City : Train edition.

"Transport" oriented.

I made more of a truck-delivery empire my first time since I couldn't figure out the trains.

So kind of a Sim City : Train edition.Well, if you want to put it like that, except you don't care about the cities, they'll be more trouble than help most of the time. :p Though players do enjoy helping them grow to ridiculous proportions.

I suggest checking the OpenTTD Wiki (http://wiki.openttd.org/index.php/Main_Page) for all your assistance needs, from beginner to expert. :)

Do you remember a game called A-Train?

It's like that, only much, much better.

Although the manual isn't as funny.
