Amen. I hope this works out, and vBulletin will adopt it as it's own child. :)

What do you guys think?

If it would work, the internet would be dead.

Really, you don't think there are actually any smart people online, do you?

Seems unlikely to me that they can make something like this work to begin with, and even if that does happen, even unlikelier that it'll turn up on this forum...

for what it's worth, the facepunch studios (http://forums.facepunchstudios.com/) forums use something kind of like this and it is very effective

edit: i have balrog's theme playing in my head now

if they can manage it, I will love them forever. I am, however, highly sceptical.

and shadowmoon: exactly.

...If it picked up on failure to capitalize and punctuate, as I think the Facepunch one does, you'd be in trouble, bro. :p

Intriguing. I certainly think it's worth persevering with, although implementing it may be tricky.

I think this thread wouldn't have made it through the filter. It's full of mistakes and contains the word "Amen".

Replace 'tricky' with 'near-impossible' and I think you've got a much more accurate picture.

However, I would like to see a troll-filter, which would be much more do-able.

Absolutely unnecessary!

The T17 forum already has its very own, highly sophisticated idiocy filter, which has a zero-tolerance to dumbness and can detect the slightest stupidity.

Look here (http://forum.team17.co.uk/member.php?u=4760)!

...You know. I've been on the fence this whole time. But it is this post, THIS POST, that made me an athiest. It all makes sense to me now. Thank you yakuza, thank you for your post on this worm forum, thank you for.... correcting my life.

Really? I think that would be really difficult, unless you're just referring to people posting goatse and stuff. This program as I see it is just to remove posts with text talk and complete gibberish, not actually remove stupidity in the literal sense. I think a troll filter would be next to impossible because I can't tell whether half of OO consists of trolls or not. And I'm way smarter than any computer!

Unfortunately, the idiocy filter has been offline for a while now.

Maybe he needs a system restart.

Ignore the shading. I wanted to see how this would come out, and it was OK, but not as good as I'd hoped.

I highly doubt this will work. I see alot of mechanics that sound great in-theory, but not alot that are do-able and not just another f**k to dang filter.

It would be useful to a certain extent.
But as with any program, people would find ways around it.

I love the image of people having to be smart to be stupid.

It's so very... Internet.
