I can only hope you're trolling this time! :Dof course! I would NEVER make a completely nonsensical mistake like that!
Much of New Zealand is being dusted with snow, including the suburb I grew up in (http://static2.stuff.co.nz/1313306196/575/5442575_600x400.jpg). Never happened once in the 24 years I lived there.
Snow in AUGUST?
What's next, vegetarian birds (http://img59.imageshack.us/img59/225/131017166839.jpg)?

Wait, does this mean that vegeterian people are made out of fruit too?

I meant "vegetal" or "herbal".
And vegetarian people are mammals, not birds, you silly.
They can't be made of kiwi.

Failing that, I'm just picturing a Shop Mimic from Dungeon Crawl. Those exist.

So, yeah! Earthquake. I was sort of in that. By which I mean the epicenter was in Virginia but it was strong enough here to evacuate the college building I was in. Scary. No real harm done though.

This is why we have the location field in our profile settings. Zeor lives in ?!?!
EDIT: You know this is going to sound really dumb but I just realised it's Zero72 and not Zeor72. I swear people call you Zeor. What's up with that?

ZEOR SPLODE!!!11
To be fair, being called Zeor became so common that I've started using it as my actual screen name in more than a few places, if only because I can usually drop the numeral that way.
I live in north-central Pennsylvania. As a matter of fact, the 0 of you who have been keeping up on the little league world series have been watching my hometown, or at least the south half of it. The stadium can't be 10 miles from here.

well that's just fun
Speaking of which, the little league world series makes it a pain in the ass to get around here.
I know what you mean, I work right by two stadiums, and a third one is being built. On match nights you hear these strange noises coming from down on the streets and when you look out of the window it seems very plausible that the zombie apocalypse has finally occurred. Moving through the hoard up stream to get to the subway doesn't make it feel any different either.
So yeah, now it's flooding pretty badly around here. School's canceled and everything. I'm watching the neighborhood where I lived a couple of years ago on TV right now, and a pretty fair portion of it is underwater. That neighborhood is in it pretty deep, and there's talk that people had gasoline and crap stored in their basements for some reason, which could be creating an environmental problem. Sooo yeah.
I'm pretty safe up here in north Williamsport, though. If the flooding makes it here, it's time to whip up an ark.

Not that so much as the week straight of more rain we've been getting. Having a head start from the hurricane sure didn't help, though.
It's pretty bad around here, easily the worst natural disaster to happen to this mid-state area within my lifetime thus far. It's being compared a lot to the direct hit we took from a hurricane back in the 70's or something. A lot of little townships were pretty totally devastated. I'm very lucky.

well I sincerely hope it dries out up there soon...
So, I'm still slowly being crushed by literally never being able to have the only person I've really felt strongly about in years, I'm hemorrhaging money because my janitor job isn't making ends meet, schoolwork has become so overwhelming that my mind tries to turtle up and shut off every time I try to get something done, and I'm finally reasonably sure that I am probably clinically depressed, but live in a country where **** you if you can't pay us $9,000 an hour to spend a month figuring out your problem.
Happy Birthday to me.

If any of you happen to be incredibly wealthy, might I suggest backing my Kickstarter (http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/BenPaddon/portscenter)?
So I talked to the college counselors about my situation, which means this is the delightful day in history where I finally felt like the crushing hopelessness filling my head was a tangible enough thing to warrant professional help. I knew the counseling services were paid for by the tuition, but what I didn't know is that the actual health services were too. I'm symptomatic so obviously that I've actually already been given an antidepressant to try out for a week or so, so there's that.
It felt kind of good to talk to a professional about it, actually. Really, I'm just glad I had somewhere to turn in what was starting to feel a lot like my darkest hour. I guess the counselor is even going to contact a couple of my instructors about giving me a break on these assignments I've been completely unable to motivate myself to do. Whether this will actually happen is up to the instructors, but here's hoping this means I'm not as doomed as I thought.

Over the past two weeks our internet speed has been reduced to a slow crawl. I can't watch anything on youtube without havingto load most of it first, and downloading Super Meat Boy on steam took ages. I wonder if it has anything to do with the fact that another isp that has been laying high speed internet cables in the ground recently. But I'm not sure if they have been this month. In any case, I suspect sabotage in order to steal customers! (And it's going to work!) :p

Moved back into my parents' place on Wednesday. We couldn't afford to keep the apartment and neither of us are having any luck finding a job.

I have dual citizenship actually, but I guess it does feel more palpable now. In any case, the issue got resolved. The ADSL modem had reset itself somehow from it's advanced setting to dial-up speed mode, but we had to get a new one since it died when pressing the reset-button.

Today I mailed off my application for enrollment to CalArts' Character Animation BFA program.
I'm a couple days late on it, but I've been told that while I have no guarantee of a review, since I was late, they do usually still get to most of the late applicants.
Here's to hoping!

Good luck with that, I hope you get in. Waiting for a reply sucks is the worst part.

unless you changed what you wrote, I didn't get any discouraging vibes from it, so no worries there.
and yeah, the waiting is going to kill me. I have NO IDEA what their standards are for acceptance, so I just sent in what I could that best displayed what I'm capable of and how I work. Hopefully I'm appealing enough and my recommendation letters impart a sense of just how ridiculously hard I tend to work towards things I really care about, but that's all I can hope for and it's out of my hands. which is nerve racking in ways words don't describe.
Did they have a specific assignment or did they just want you to submit a portfolio? The schools I've applied to have been a bit varied.. some want you to draw something specific and be able to follow instructions perfectly. While some only care that you have some basic understanding but seem like nice and driven person in your letter/interview.

They set some parameters for what was to be included, but they weren't exact. I got the impression that they largely wanted to know what you can do rather than whether or not you're willing to be their faithful servant.
