View Full Version : weird things experienced

thought i'd start a thread about weird things we've seen in the game.
1. error code beginning with a 9 instead of showing you updated leaderboard rankings after a match. seems to me that when this happens, leaderboard doesnt get updated after that match.
2. level effects happening without prior warning. or, the other team is warned, but not mine (can tell cause it might do a little thing at the beginning of their turn, but not mine). or sometimes no warning at all.
3. flak came in once (dark clouds covering worms) and there was a loud "beeeeeeep" instead of whatever sound normally accompanies that effect. strange.
DS version.

in map maker, I sometimes get this pixel error were the worms and objects get these black marks and it's like making a map while wearing a blind fold

Ah, the Nintendo requirement of showing error codes when there's a network problem. Distinctly weird.
The other two are fun, though.

i had that a couple of days ago, it was bizarre...might have been against you

yeah, ive experienced number 3:o
also, i started under an oil barrel once in a rope race, meaning i couldnt move whatsoever for the round. maybe not a bug, just bad luck :/
and, i have noticed that EVERY time i cause high amounts of damage with a banana bomb, in the replay it shows nothing at all like what happened...

there's a thread about that problem: PLEASE CLICK (http://forum.team17.co.uk/showthread.php?t=34606)
DS version:
When trying to save a map after making one, sometimes weird lines of the map comes in front of the save screen, making it hard to see what your doing when your naming it, over writing another map, ect. :-/
Oh yeah, same here. It tends to happen more after extensive playing. It sometimes happens with the pause menu in-game, and this is even weirder, during that thing where purple fox appears (I forgot what it's called). As in the map in normal colours was actually visible on a few lines in the screen. It happens commonly in all menu screens in the map editor, though.

i was in a match with someone, think it was rival match.. and some worms got pushed together in a deep crevice. they kept "oof" "ah" "eep" "ack"ing on eachother, but never settled. we had to reset our games.

I've had the infinite oof glitch and I had to power off the DS to end the turn. In my case, it was about 3 worms stuck near a small hill (the group of the worms on the right in this poor quality pic).

I've only had it happen once and I've played many games.
I've got a vid on my phone of the 'oof' glitch.

I don't know if I saw the same thing, but playing single player, sometimes the AI's worm jumps straight up. Weird stuff.

what happens if you double tap the jump button? older worms games had a number of jump options. wa and wwp had 4 different ways you could jump.

just does a tall backflip.
just does a tall backflip.
I _really_ miss the other jump options. Small backflip and small backwards jump were clutch moves.
someone once placed a mine directly on one of my worms and it did not detonate until the next turn when i knocked him into it.

i was playing someone on one of my few deathmatch games
all he did was either aim a bazooka down and fire, usually killing his worm, or throw a grenade into a hole, then move to stand on top of it
on his screen i was apparently doing the exact same thing he was on mine
i finish my match with him, he keeps playing "me" while i am waiting at the finish match screen, after about 5mins the game dcs me and him
things like this are very strange, this type of thing happened to me in mph (my opponent had their account hacked) no idea what caused this in worms

the small backflip is the same as the backwards jump in every way except sprite animation.

As with all cartridge games on DS, if the cartridge is slightly moved, pulled out or misaligned, it will result in glitches and sound problems. This is well known to happen in 'Super Mario 64' on the Nintendo 64, causing lots of glitches when the cartridge is slightly moved. This could be the reason, however, this could not... as I do own the PSP version soon, awaiting it to be posted through my letterbox as I type.

but our cartridges have no spinning parts, thank goodness, so if we play upside down, the battery lasts just as long! =P
i dont think there's a lot of room for play with the carts...i think it'd be hard to accidentally move them. probably easier to disrupt the pattern of a spinning disc if i were holding the device that spun it.

I've also noticed a glitch linked to this. Whenever the game is saving, and noises or explosions occur in the background, this makes the funny glitch noise, as sounds aren't meant to be heard while the memory card is being saved upon.

[DS]
Playing in the laboratory, lost a blast stage and instead of the usual 'fail' screen I was treated to an error message stating that there was no one available to join a single cart multiplayer match.
After beating said blast stage, I won the laboratory medal and the all complete medal (but only got a message regarding the first). I viewed them in the medal cabinet and played a random match - the theme was laboratory (no special events, just the surroundings). The theme stuck when I went into a single player custom game, the theme icon was blank and the phrase 'err' appeared. I was unable to recreate this after changing the theme once :(
Other than that, the main bug/glitch that I've seen is that the game will sometimes freeze between rounds, and I've seen a few times when it freezes while you are making theme/terrain selections for a multiplayer match.
Oh, and the 'oof' glitch? I had that happen before with WA for dreamcast... quite annoying!
maybe some issue's are related or become worse when the handheld heats up?
Considering WOW2 DS is based on the NGage WWP engine which in itself is based on WWP PS1 which is what WWP DC was based on, I'm not surprised it occured on the DC.
I'm a big fan of all 2D Worms, but WOW2 seems very beta. Some things makes me crazy, one of those is a broken aim. You can check it by shooting with rope - it always takes higher than aim center. There are no so many problems with bazooka and other boom-stuff, but with shotgun it's worst. I take aim on enemy worm from close range and it's shot above him... On the far distance shotgun became totaly useless. I'm very pity about this - it always have been very accurate weapon.

im perfectly fine with the aiming on the ds version.
DS version:
1.Sometimes my screens flip during loading.
2.Game crashes.
3.Once,A custom level changed into something else, and i was SURE that i never over wrote it.
4.If a lot of mines get triggered before any worms move,(by a custom map)you won't see half the pause menu.
