View Full Version : A series of QUESTIONS

Hey

Love this game. Have it for DS. Some questions, if you would be so kind to answer:

- One of my fav. things about the worms series is being able to have the water levels rise consistently after 5 minutes of gameplay. Is there anyway to set a game up like this? I like how the suspense rapidly builds.

- When you add a friend code, does that person have to have you added? ie: am I searching for "friends" whose codes I've gotten off of forums in vain?

- Why did they change the game to allow girders to be place anywhere? Was this an intentional strategic decision, or did the obvious reasons for not allowing that simply slip the developers' minds?

- Is there a place I can go to find scheduled worm tournaments and such?

- If I'm desperate just to play as soon as possible, is there any reason I would ever want to just look "regionally" as opposed to worldwide? ie: is the worldwide search the most comprehensive, leading to quicker matches?

- Isn't the whole "rivals" thing a moot point, because even if I have 20 rivals, the likelyhood of any of them searching at the same time I'm searching is almost nonexistant, right?

Please, next time allow people to place worms at the beginning of matches! (and, if you can't already, allow people to adjust when the water levels rise. It's one of my favorite things!)

Thank you Team 17 for not putting bridges into this game!!! You guys got SO MUCH stuff RIGHT! (our criticisms are really minor)

Though I appreciate your response, I have to admit I would prefer an answer to some of my questions...?

It's obviously intentional, as solving several of the puzzles actually requires it. And while I understand your sentiment, the new earthquake/turbulence hazards that hit for multiple turns in several level types make long-distance girder placement almost a strategic necessity.

Bridges are actually one of the things I miss the most. I made a fake girder level in the editor, but it doesn't feel quite the same.

I think the main problem I had with bridges was that I could never learn how to turn them off and i resented how every map with a large body of water had stupid bridges preventing plummeting worms!

Please, more answers?

Yeah, I agree with that. I would prefer that bridges were available as an option (and ditto for swiss cheese holes in large landmasses). It's fun to play a multilevel girder level sometimes (though it usually ends quickly), and other times, you want multiple unconnected landmasses.

I think you can adjust the sudden death time in the scheme but on the DS, you can only use custom schemes with people on your friends list.

Is there a place I can go to find scheduled worm tournaments and such?

There's some tournament here (I have nothing to do with it, someone just sent me the link):
http://forum.officialnintendomagazine.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=91843

The lack of a communication feature and the friend codes system makes creating an unofficial tournament more difficult than it would be for say Worms Armageddon on PC but if you use a forum/IRC to arrange the games, it's still possible.

If I'm desperate just to play as soon as possible, is there any reason I would ever want to just look "regionally" as opposed to worldwide? ie: is the worldwide search the most comprehensive, leading to quicker matches?

Regionally is only if you want slightly less lag or you want to play people from your region. If you want to find an opponent as quickly as possible, choose worldwide.

Isn't the whole "rivals" thing a moot point, because even if I have 20 rivals, the likelyhood of any of them searching at the same time I'm searching is almost nonexistant, right?

Yes it would be unlikely. I recommend putting your email or website as your name and hope your opponent contacts you to play again.

Hey

You can also compare your progress in the leader board against rivals. As for me, i've collected 3 rivals of worthy skill, and i'm watching my progress against them :)

Makes matches that much faster with random placement, also a bit more entertaining, since you don't get to choose what your delt.

Sure it sucks if you have 3 worms skinny dipping on the first round once in a blue moon, but other then that i think i prefer the speed and tatics involved with random worms.

Hi there,

Not being a DS peep, I can't answer everything, but:

- When you add a friend code, does that person have to have you added? ie: am I searching for "friends" whose codes I've gotten off of forums in vain?
Yes. Both parties must add the other's friend code (Nintendo requirement).

- Is there a place I can go to find scheduled worm tournaments and such?
Not that I know of... but why not start a thread here? A mod may even make it sticky.

- Isn't the whole "rivals" thing a moot point, because even if I have 20 rivals, the likelyhood of any of them searching at the same time I'm searching is almost nonexistant, right?
Nintendo requirement.

Hope this helps.

Thanks guys for all your help! (though I still don't think I can adjust when water levels rise!)

And I agree that the automatic placement of worms may be preferable to the annoying time some people take to place their worms.

The next time you'll see me, hopefully I'll be throwing a banana bomb down your throats!

Cheers

Nintendo wanted a Rivals list?

Anyway, while I also liked rising water, it would be a bit odd in W:OW2 as most landscape types have the water level rising and falling.

In my clan, we arrange tournaments on our forums, we just say whos fighting who, and let them get on with it. Problem is, of course, it takes ages! But its a good idea... Also might want to check the site Wormetti put up (I haven't yet).

Hope that helps!
