How do i get this to work!?!?

My computer is an XP and it won't install the game. Could someone tell me how to install it?:(
i don't understand this upgrade thing. I'm kinda stupid with computers

1) install game

2) go to http://wa.team17.com and download the latest "Beta Update"

3) install the Beta Update and anything else it asks dudiring the install (internet connection may be required during install)

4) play the game.

Please be more specific - how exactly does it fail to install the game? Does it show an error message - if so, what is it?

OK, i bought the cd and tried to install the game on my Windows XP. It then shows an error message

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\AUTOEXEC.NT. The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications. Chose "close" to terminate the program.

I downloaded the newest update and the patch, but it says the same thing when i run the patch.

Ok... now i tried re-installing the patch and the update, but it says

This application has failed to start because LTKRN10N.dll was not found. Re-installing this application may fix this problem

I've tried everything i could think of.

that didn't work right. it still won't install right (same problem):p

Did you install the latest Beta update (3.6.28.0)?

if you did, you should have been forced to (well the only other choice is to exit) apply the 3.0.00.0 patch first.

....now there are 2 more problems!!!! the internet connection for the game doesn't work. after i log in it shuts down after about 2 seconds. The other is any time i start any game it freezes. Help!
