View Full Version : I was Gardevoir last night.
Note: I didn't start, or was in charge of the marshmallow thing last year. It was complete bullcrap and I apologize for taking part in it.
The spam this month was brought to you by Robin, Swed and I. And yeah I know the pokemon stuff was going too far, sorry about that. Thanks to some wonderful OD members for the screenshots and valuable OD information (I won't be giving out any names, since I don't want to hurt their feelings :()
PS. Marshmallow zealots and hardcore ODers alike, please stop taking an internet forum so seriously.

I've made a lot of friends on the internet, some of whom I've met up with in real life, all of which I'm grateful to have met. None of which are any less a friend because I met them on the internet. What an internet forum is used for, and what it means to me, may not be the same as what others feel. It's a shame they don't share my value of it.

Sounds like someone's going to be banned for posting those sex stories, whoever that was.
That wasn't me, though I DID post the pokemon pictures
I thought they were just badly drawn and unintentionally hilarious crap, sorry if they offended anyone I guess

The content of the cartoons wasn't offensive. I don't think anyone who uses an internet forum would be offended by that, these days. What's offensive is the reason why they were posted.
But it looks to me like you are genuinely sorry, so I accept your apology. I'm planning to become more active (at least where I can be useful) in these many forums, so I look forward to some good discussions with you.
Agreed, but I've done the same thing on MSN with a few Team17ers, and it's caused tons of drama.
Actually, I'm mostly sorry for the pokemon thing due to the overly-sensible people here. I still find it funny how posting those screens created a huge meetup, caused everyone to over-analyze every small detail just to track down the evil monsters that dared to reveal it, and that posting erotic fanfiction is deemed less offensive than posting a screenshot of a forum. You guys are taking this way too seriously.
I'm sure I'll get banned for this anyway (hell, I'm technically breaking 'the rules' right now), so bye I guess.
I DID meet tons of people on this forum and I used to respect it. Thing is, I simply lost interest for all things Team 17 and I was just curious to see people's reaction to something like this. Right now, Team 17 is a pretty funny forum; it's not completely horrible like Gaia Online and not something like SA. It's the perfect mix of idiotic newbies, old members taking things way too seriously and inexplicably weird people... it's just a perfect target for fake/joke posts and accounts. Look at Gingerneck and Eggi; it's the same thing, only I did the intolerable sin of posting a screenshot of a forum.
Also, I was Rikachan, which was a troll account meant to test T17's tolerance to horrible art and idiotic female posters. I tried to make each picture as horrible as possible, and they were still met with some "it's just her style :)" replies.

I accept your apology, but you still ruined my night.
Everywhere I looked, those stupid threads were made.
And seriously, dude. Did you have to do it during the recent invasion of stupidity?
And now for something completely different
Since when were Robin and Swed still here? Did they come back? Did they actually ever leave?
Heh, I really don't see the point in why you did it in the first place.
If you think people take the forum to seriously, can't you just ignore that fact? I mean, going around this forum we have to ignore stupidity at every corner almost.
Shame that you will probably be banned for all that spam/poke'p0rn. I was kinda hoping a little more from you Iguana.
But, as usual, you went ahead and did something that there is no coming back from without thinking it through. And in the end... what the hell did you think you were going to get out of doing this?
I say it's a shame, too, because I actually read your posts. Which is more than I can say for a lot of other people.
But it's all up to the admin now.
Sorry for ruining your night, I guess. Just a tip though: if your time on an internet gaming forum is what you base the quality of "your nights" on, I really think you should try new things.
And seriously, dude. Did you have to do it during the recent invasion of stupidity?
That like, totally wasn't the whole point.
Anyway it originally started as a Gardevoir (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Pok%C3%A9mon_(281-300)#Gardevoir)-obsesed gimmick account which I ALSO used to mock Futureworm's OD post. Then an ODer (GUESS WHO, I think it's pretty obvious) gave me those two pictures. That, along with the hilarious spam-bot porn thread and my lack of sleep, started the whole thing.
And in the end... what the hell did you think you were going to get out of doing this?
Aside from a ban, I don't know. I certainly wasn't expecting something *this* big, though.
Hell, what were Eggi and Gingerneck getting out of this?

I was typing this one out before Slick posted, so please don't think it has any malice in it, because it doesn't.
Blame human nature. I know I'm not really bothered about some sketches of an unfamiliar Pokémon with boobs, I know no-one else will be bothered either, and in the end it's just another clean-up job for the mods. That's probably how the others feel, too. You're bound to provoke a response, however, when you post up what are essentially other people's private chat logs. Admittedly they aren't as private as a one-to-one conversation over MSN, but the feeling is similar.
I'm not a fan of letting idiocy stay on the forum because it's mildly entertaining. Whilst we have a bunch of people complaining how it runs rife here, I wonder if anyone's asked if it may have been our fault in the first place. Unfortunately, as you say, Iggy, the Team17 forum appears to have, maybe partially at least, degenerated in to a children's playground. I'm not the best person to say, I'm just going on what I've been told. Maybe, with the rise of forums like 4chan and what have you, more people think that's what forums are for. However, I don't visit forums like that so my views are quite different.
Hell, what were Eggi and Gingerneck getting out of this?
The only thing about those two, is they were actually funny. :p

One or twice, maybe. But if I wanted random junk I could run a dictionary through a shredder. The only downfall would be it wouldn't be in context.
that pokemon had boobs in the games originally and knowing that makes me a horrible person.
The only thing about those two, is they were actually funny. :p
A lot of people (including one of the ODers that gave me some info) though it was pretty funny though.
You're bound to provoke a response, however, when you post up what are essentially other people's private chat logs.
chatlogs of someone that was basically trying to police the forum while calling someone a "backseat mod"? "there" and chatlogs are two completely different things; if you want privacy, you use an IM application and discuss personal things. If you want to be an easy target, you make a few completely useless, obnoxious and spammy posts while trying to be funny, then go off on a "secret" forum on the same board that only a set amount of members can view and create a petition for the banning of an (admittedly stupid and annoying, yet not ban-worthy) forumer calling them a "backseat mod", "unfunny" and "useless" in an extremely ironic twist. The way Thomasp accused me of backseat modding after posting the joke "ban futureworm" thread only serves to enforce this.
But really, I don't care about OD anymore; it's just an internet gaming forum. I'm not a pathetic retard who thinks T17 veterans are all evil creatures that want to feed on the innards of poor defenseless newbies, like most of you think. I truly respect a lot of veterans.
So you apologised for something 'stupid' by doing something stupider?
Ehehe, okay.

It is not the internet forum I take quite so seriously. It is a wanton and deliberate attempt at destroying kinship, apparently for a fleeting moment of amusement no less, that I find unforgivable.
I post this to inform you that you are now not just blocked, but deleted off my MSN list.
Get bent.
@cyclaws: The main idea was right I guess, but you were taking it too seriously and all of the methods were useless and simply failed to help.
Well if anything else, I have to say that I find it kind of ironic.
If you guys didn't take the forum seriously too in a way, enough to do all of this, then I doubt anyone would even go through it.
Beholdith, thy circle of irony.
People take the forum to serious > Makes people mad > Makes people take the people who take the forum to serious, too serious > People get upset because of that, and take the forum to damn serious...
POINT BEING, this WHOLE thing is pointless! Not even worth being done. The only thing that came out of this, is a few peoples opinions (which they could of stated in a better way), and loss of respect for once respected people.
Just because this is the internet, doesn't give anyone the right to do something like this, so as much as a drunk man waving his pen!s at traffic. It's just wrong. :p
Now crap. I'm starting to get serious. Oh noes.
I guess I'll just stop with this 'whole topic' then.

Last night, I realised something - I do take the Team17 Forum very seriously indeed. But that's justified.
Through this forum, I have met, both online and in reality, some top-notch people. I've made good friends, forged strong relationships with people. Most of those people now post exclusively elsewhere because, yes, the rest of the forum does appear to have gone down the toilet. So when that is attacked (and this is not the first such attack) I get rather sensitive about it. It threatens the future of the veteran community.
Now I'm not so naive that I'd think that the collapse of such a community would mean I'd lose touch with everyone instantaneously. But there are a lot of people who visit forums who don't use MSN Messenger, or Google Talk, or ICQ, or visit #worms. I would remain in touch with a lot of good friends but I'd lose contact with more than a few others, and that worries me. So what you did last night potentially threatened connections I have with some very good friends, and for that reason I'm afraid I can't forgive your actions as quickly as Matty has.
I still say Plasma's an idiotic dolt with the mental capacity of a remarkably stupid runner bean, though.

@ Iguana
From what I get from you, I don't think you're one of these people who've mentally degraded to a level equal to that of a mouldy egg. You don't strike me as being a complete, unfounded idiot. That's reinforced by your comment on the ironic twist. I too feel it's inadvisable to complain about backseat modding and then post a fun thread that takes it up a notch to backroom modding. But I've learned moderation over the years. By that I don't mean how to remove profanity from a forum, far from it. What I mean is the ability to stop myself from doing something silly when I'm feeling frustrated. Unfortunately, I can't say the same ability is resident in everyone else. Thankfully I don't need to worry much here because I know Tom and Andrew are two of the most logical people I know who don't make hasty decisions based on how much pressure is put on them by others. But I digress.
I didn't expect the said thread to be much of a problem because it was hidden away, unable to cause any damage. In my opinion I wouldn't say it was a serious thread, more just an everyday grumble. Maybe I should practice what I preach and try to point out when my friends are making fools of themselves. I know it seems an injustice when someone displays a rather two-faced behaviour, but their word isn't law. I'm sorry for not playing my part in preventing anyone being unnecessarily offended and I'm sure, were he online, a certain gent would want to explain he wasn't being completely serious.
Maybe we all need to take a break, gather our heads again. There is truth in what you say, that this is just an internet forum, and though it's a vehicle for great things it's insignificant compared with the wider issues of the world.

There is truth in what you say, that this is just an internet forum...
And a pub is just a pub, and the workplace is just the workplace. All of these statements, ultimately, are rubbish.
Without this forum I would not have gone bowling in Milton Keynes with a bunch of really great people. I would not have invited them to my home for a flatwarming party the following year. I would not have gone to Alton Towers the year after that just to hang out with these people. I wouldn't have spent nearly a week at Worm Mad's place, just hanging out and writing with him. I wouldn't have asked you, Matty, to join us at Alton Towers that last time before I flew out to the US.
I've made some fantastic friends here. I've made some of my best friends here. I count you among them. So to discount this place as "just an internet forum"? That doesn't quite work for me.
iguana, despite the fact that you are claiming that you are supposedly sorry or whatever, it's pretty obvious that this was your attempt to be the internet tough guy and go out in a BLAZE OF GLORY
I only apologized to whoever was offended by the pokemon pictures (which weren't really porn, were really badly drawn and undetailed, but whatever; some people are easily disturbed) or was seriously affected by those OD screenshots. I still find it completely silly that so many people thought I was trying to destroy their deep brotherly bonds by posting a screenshot of a forum.
Well if anything else, I have to say that I find it kind of ironic.
If you guys didn't take the forum seriously too in a way, enough to do all of this, then I doubt anyone would even go through it.
If we were taking it seriously we'd just start another idiotic self-righteous rant about OD. Instead we made a few gimmick accounts and posted OD screenshots.
It is not the internet forum I take quite so seriously. It is a wanton and deliberate attempt at destroying kinship, apparently for a fleeting moment of amusement no less, that I find unforgivable.

Let's ignore the fact that posting an OD screen wouldn't destroy the whole forum as we know it for a second. Even if my actions somehow, despite all logic, caused the deletion of the whole forum, this wouldn't get rid of the deep brotherhood between members.
stuff about taking the forum seriously, keeping in touch with people and the community
Once again, I don't think posting an OD screenshot would destroy the forum. Second, there HAS to be a different way to keep in touch with your fellow veterans; different IM programs, other forums... the possibilities are endless. I never intended to ruin the friendship between veterans, and I can't see how my stupid spamming would even do that.

Not everyone uses chat apps. Not everyone visits the same forums. I've encouraged people to register on the Dream17 Forum (and, latterly, the Jump Leads forum) but D17 has never been a bustling social hub, as it?
You could just create a new social forum for the vets to migrate to. If they really cared, they wouldn't mind registering a new forum just to keep in touch.
And I still can't see how some spam posts of OD would get the forum deleted. Team 17 is a quality developer that's making a nice profit off of their games; I'm sure they can take stuff far worse than what I did.

Right, you just posed a screenshot of a forum... along with tons of spam.
And, you weren't trying to cause any sort of chaos, of course, you were just posting a screenshot of a forum.
Don't try to be the guy on the higher grounds here Iguana, you know you just proved yourself a retard. While I agree that people shouldn't take a forum seriously, I also think that people shouldn't take anything seriously at all, including their own effing life. But that's just me.
I still don't go around judging people for giving too much importance to a forum, because as S-2K have pointed out, they might have a damn good reason for it.
If you want to poke fun at a retarded community's zealoty behaviour, you do what Splapp did with his "Sony breaks his neck" animation. You don't target rather harmless forum veterans who have a reason to be annoyed.
Also, seriously, as far as I can tell this barely caused any reaction. What the hell are you blabbering about? The only reason you'll get banned for this, is because you have proven yourself a retard that apparently finds spamming amusing. Nothing to do with the screenshot you posted I'm afraid.
Nothing to do with the screenshot you posted I'm afraid.
According to an unnamed ODer, some people actually *lost sleep* over the spamming spree, and it would've been taken lightly if it weren't for the OD screen. Posting that screenshot was deemed much worse than the fact that I was spamming.
edit:
and no, I'm not trying to be the guy on the higher grounds, the spamming was pretty retarded I'll admit it

If you had posted that screenshot in 1 thread with your actual user, then I wouldn't have given a rad's ass, and probably neither would the mods, and probably neither would most people. But you posted a lot of threads, spam, and you made a second account for this. And you also admit to another account. So... no it's not the screenshot. For all I know you might be that freak with the Prince of Bel-Air fan fiction, which if I recall correctly, is what caused most of the conmotion.
edit: seriously tho, Iguana, I didn't expect you to be this much of a retard.

Well, if you had tought this trough, you could have done that instead and proved this wrong. But alas, you had to make multiple accounts and spam the forums so you could prove... what? What were you trying to prove?
The screenshot is not the reason, and even if it was, you couldn't even prove it to yourself. All that you have proven is that making multiple accounts and spamming the forum is a bannable offense, and that is quite clearly already stated in the FAQ. So what's your argument?
The forum's been spammed and flooded before and it didn't cause such a reaction, also I've had IM conversations with ODers that took part in a huge chat that followed my flood. According to them, the fact that I revealed OD was their main concern.
Why would people complain about me ruining the veteran community if it was just some random spam?

Actually, I'm mostly sorry for the pokemon thing due to the overly-sensible people here. I still find it funny how posting those screens created a huge meetup, caused everyone to over-analyze every small detail just to track down the evil monsters that dared to reveal it, and that posting erotic fanfiction is deemed less offensive than posting a screenshot of a forum. You guys are taking this way too seriously.Do you want to read my first post back to you? The worst of it was posting the erotic fanfiction on a forum with many children as members. You should know better - it's about the worst forum rule you can break. Secondly you spammed the forum: Spammers get banned. Thirdly, you created another account - also against forum rules.

For the 3rd (or so) time, ACERLOO WASN'T ME and I wasn't the one posting creepy fanfiction. I only posted the tame pokemon stuff (which I apologize for, once again) and the OD stuff.
And again, plenty of veterans said they wouldn't have cared about the spam if it didn't involve an OD screen

Probably just because of the way it was done, with some random usernames appearing, lots of spam, etc. I tell you, if it had been just you as Iguana posting the screenshot, it wouldn't have been such a big deal. You'd as much as get some infraction points, or get watched at the very worst.
I think the main concern here is who is leaking, rather than the leak itself existing, because that is only going to cause trouble.
The forum was flooded before, sick **** was posted, spam was made, and none of it spawned a huge OD meetup
Hell, Gads posting jailbait-ish porn in Fanart was taken lightly (I think Thomasp even joked around about it saying it was "better than the usual fanart posts), and nobody lost sleep over it. I only spammed an OD screen and some tame pokemon "art" and suddenly I'm guilty of "destroying kinship"
