View Full Version : An ingame text message needs fixing...

I recently installed the latest version of the patch, and everything is working fine. There is one tiny problem which doesn't affect the gameplay in any way, or cause any problems, but I thought I would mention it. When the game randomly chooses a message to show when a utility crate drops, if it chooses the message "Cool! That looks useful!" it says "Coo! That looks useful!" instead(in case you didn't notice, the "L" is missing from "Cool".).
So, how do you know the worm says Cool and not Coo?
Also, what speech are you using, do you have knowledge of their accent? And more importantly, do you really care?
Edit: So if I understand correctly in the database it appears with the L but then it displays without it, I have no idea then.

Note that I did not mention the word "worm" and that I said that a Text message needs fixing.

Actually, I don't think "Coo" is a typo. It's a sort of British slang, probably from the Yorkshire area (or thereabouts) where Team17 are based. I'm fairly sure the word is also used in the "Yorkshire Tykes" speechbank.
Wikipedia:
"An interjection of surprise and admiration."

There we are. We've all learnt something today. "Coo" is an interjection of surprise and admiration; and Plasma can, on occasion, make useful contributions to a discussion.

The weird thing is, it didn't used to say that. It used to say "Cool! That looks useful!".*
Note: This is a Text problem. Nothing to do with speech banks or worm voices. Plus, I don't care that much, but just thought I'd mention it.

Did it? I never noticed... Maybe it was changed in the American release of the game, but the beta updates changed it back.

I'm pretty sure that my game is the UK version, and that it did used to say "Cool! That looks useful!" before this version of the patch.

Well, we'll never know, eh?
No, it quite distinctly said 'coo!'. I remember so!

It's funny, I always knew what "Coo!" meant, it's used a lot in the UK. But often, "Coo" is the pronounciation of "Cow" in many Scottish areas, often in the dialect of Doric, which I am very familiar with, it being from the North East of Scotland, where I was born, and have lived my life so far.
There's a book called "Spik o' the land" out there, it's like an English -> Doric dictionary. I mean, do you know what this means? You probably don't.
"Bauchle! Puddin' Heid! Phit are ya playin at, ye saft-headed eejit?!"

I recall seeing "Coo! That looks useful!" in WWP also.
