Let's say there was going to be a new worms game for 2D or 3D. what type of voices do you want them to put in a game like that. if you think there should be a voice brought back from another game then say wich game it was from for excample: the woopsie voice was changed between WWP and
W3D also in W4 it changed. if you just say the woopsie voice then people won't know the specific tone so say somthing like the woopsie voice from W3D.
I want them to bring back Mr.tee voice from WFUS, drill sargent from W3D or WFUS, big ron from W3D, Woopsie from W4, The formula one voice from W:A, Me Me from W4, and my favorite voice of all time Suicidle buissness man from WFUS because they were so whiney and funny some of my favorite quotes were "AW GEEZ" "Not more paper work" and many more funny lines
one of the new voices could be Party man.
Edit: I also think they should bring back the granpa voice from WFUS and the astronot voice (if I spelled it right) from W4.
Bring back the English Bobby, Game Show & Secret Agent soundbanks from W4M.
SuperVillan and Nerd, both from WFUS

Take heed of this! That soundbank was what really caused the death of the Amiga!

Take heed of this - that soundbank was never officially included with any version of Worms released for the Amiga! I added it to my copy of WormsDC, though. I think that was in 2003.

Yes, that was pretty obvious.
You never heard of the E.T. incident then, I take it.

I fail to see what almost every copy of "E.T - The Extra Terrstrial" for the Atari being (supposedly) buried in in the middle of the desert has to do with a speechbank that wasn't even included with any Amiga versions of Worms. Are you implying the speechbank's inclusion, or lack thereof, is what caused the Amiga market to die? And if so, are you a chuffing moron?

I think's it's what's commonly known as a joke.

No, a joke is when you say something funny and the other person laughs. In fact when Bill Bailey is asked how he writes his jokes, he says he starts with a laugh and works backwards. This, clearly, is a method people in this thread need to try themselves.

Y'know, I think I have an idea to stop you from derailing threads so much like this.

Back on topic, I'd really like to see (or hear) the Irish soundbank from W:A back again! That one was brilliant!

I got a question: what is a scouser? They have that voice in worms 4 but I have no idea what it really is.

Plasma's finally ignoring me! I've been waiting for this day for so long. Still, I fully intend to respond to every single stupid statement he makes. That I see, of course - I can't go around responding to all of his posts, can I? He makes loads of stupid statements.
In any case, I would love for Angry Scots to be returned to its former glory.

from what game? that voice was in a few games.

Former glory. Former. That would imply a previous version. Perhaps, and this is a stretch, I was referring to the version used in Worms 2, Worms Armageddon, and Worms World Party and, possibly, the prototypical version from Worms: Reinforcements. Perhaps I was referring to one of those.
Please for to be reading posts before you respond.

WOW! you sure seem angry today
I read that post and I read it carefully. since the last game the scots were in was W:OW it could have been in any game befor that.

Yes, Angry Scots was featured in WOW and yes, it uses the same sound files as W2/WA/WWP. However the way speechbanks were implemented in WOW didn't seem right. Worms said the wrong things at the wrong time.

... which would be a very good reason to wonder which game you are referring to. 'former' can refer to any of the previous games, and 'glory' is in the eye of a beholder. so anyone who'd also see one of the versions as deficient would be quite correct to wonder which version you find to be worthy of 'glory'.
s2k, no offense, but i think you can do well with a formal logic class from your local college. in fact, anyone who haven't taken one should take it at the first opportunity.

I think it was perfectly clear which speechbank I meant, and I think you're both being exceptionally pendantic this evening.

27 Aug 2007, 03:31
that may very well be, as i am exceptionally pedantic every evening. (i'm much better in the mornings.) but i really wouldn't have been able to tell by looking at your post which version you referred to, and if i payed a little more attention to voice banks, i'd probably be just as likely to ask for clarification.

I think anyone who is familiar with the speechbanks from W2/WA/WWP will have understood me. I think you've taken it upon yourself to be very argumentitive this evening.

It seems quite clear to me that when he says former glory, and it's only ever sounded either like it did in WOW or like it did always before that, the glory is all of the games previous to that with that speechbank.

does anyone have an idea for new voices, I've already said that I wanted a party man voice at the beggining of the thread, so does anyone have some ideas.

How about a midget voice. It would be this really high pitched voice.

Worms voiced are already high-pitched, a high-pitched high-pitched voice would be a bit too high-pitched for my taste. :/
But I would LOVE to have a mexican spanish one. You know, with all those mexican slangs and the odd swear word. :p

Don't forget, ladies and gents, we can make these things ourselves.
I think that speechbanks in future Worms games should evolve to include action sounds like teleport and mine tick. Either that or have soundbanks as well as speechbanks that have alternative sounds for things like those. They did it in Worms: Reinforcements.

depends on how t17 decides to make the speech banks work. putting speech banks into w4 was a pain. and what if t17 adds encoding? it is fine if it is mp3 or another popular format. what if they decide to invent something themselves again? i once spent almost a week trying to get music out of some ea game. it used a non-standard variation of adpcm. even after i found an adpcm table for another ea game, i couldn't get rid of all the noise. and it is hard to imagine simpler audio compression than adpcm.

Worms 4, you say? I thought they were just wave files, and they took on their own lip movements when you copied the files across?
I'm sure the Team will make it easy for us to make our own speechbanks. It was very hot, back in the days of Worms 1.

Worms 4, you say? I thought they were just wave files, and they took on their own lip movements when you copied the files across? They're still wavs, only they're packed into files so you can't just edit them "as is". (as with most of W4's files) K^2 made a program to work with them though.

YAY! cheers everyone, they put the soulman speech back into worms. I used it for my favorite team and they also have a few other classics :D
But I really expected the formula one voice back, oh well the soulman voice is good enough. as long as they have that voice then i'm happy!
I haven't played a Worms game since Worms Armageddon (well I did play Open warfare on the DS but I couldn't see anything anywhere to change speech banks)
Anyway,
I like Thespain, I don't know if its still in the modern games but if not then it must return for that Wii game or what ever new worms game turns up!!!
Why not include the whole speech banks from the old WWP? They were awesome and quiet a lot!
Really? I thought those speechbanks were sorta noisy.

I still want to know why they didn't have the suicidle sales men voice from worms forts, that voice was the BEST!:D

it is called audio encoding, and it would have solved a lot of problems. i don't know about wow2, but wow had a lot of space left over on umd, and both w3d and w4 used unencoded pcm audio streams.
I like the Game Show Host from W4:M. I'm guessing not many people have heard it, but it is amusing.
