View Full Version : Black screen while starting a match. Note: Not starting the game, Starting a match
Well, whenever I start a match, I am met with a black screen of death.
Damn.
Please. Yes, I have the latest patches and crap.
I have had a nightmare and a half getting this to work. Please allow a swift responce. If any additional info is needed, I will post as needed.

Do you hear any sound as the match starts?
Do you see the loading pie?
Can you minimize or otherwise unfocus the game by e.g. pressing Ctrl+Alt+Del?
Sound=For 4 seconds, which is the normal "Pie loading" time.
Pie=No
Minimize=No, but the ctrl+alt+del menu appears over the game, and I can shut it down. But no minimize.
Sorry for the double post, but I feel that this should be added.
WA crashes when I try to play a game of any sort
Usually caused by improperly updating the game - follow the tutorial carefully. This is also caused by graphics cards that are too new, such as NVIDIA 8800GTS. WA will eventually be able to run on these cards. Until then, either consider downgrading your graphics card or, for NVIDIA 8800GTS, downloading this fix which has been known to work for some people. See this thread on the Team17 forums for details.
I do not run NVIDIA 8800GTS, but run the NVIDIA FX 5200. Also, I have not updated: I got the installer from downloading, not CD.
On side note, I have updated drivers.
if you have the trymedia version then you should know its not compatable with the latest beta versions, so it would be hard to get in a game with other people... also, the newest update may solve your problems too.
to update you need to get a refund from the trymedia version and buy a CD version.

Done. I just re-installed, and it is compatible with the beta. Fixed.
