Hi!

Got a little Problem everytime I wanna save a Worms Map as a .png I get little black dots in the game where it should be transparent.

I got the following options in gimp... (I tried it with 64 colors, too)

And in the Game the black/transparent looks like this http://i15.tinypic.com/52592f7.png

What other options are available for dithering?

What you could do is after you've saved it, go back to the file and edit it in paletted mode and make sure any black areas have been repainted so that they are just pure black instead of having those extra slightly non pure black dots.

I have the following options:
Floyd-Steinberg (normal)
Floyd-Steinberg (reduced color bleeding)
Positioned
None

Try none.

If you end up with the black areas becoming solid black (will be almost pure black) then you will have to find the palette editing options and change the black it has chosen to pure black, but try none and see what happens first.

That looks like a bug in gimp's dithering algorithms. If it contains a pure black in the resulting reduced palette (as obvious from the transparent areas), and the source image has a pure black background, the small black dots on the resulting map seem to be a result of white noise due to imprecise dithering.

I tried "none" and I stil lget black dots... strangely I don't get black dots when I'm saving a map with only white stuff (and the rest black of course) ...

You should definately try to change the palette manually and remove all "nearly black colours" from it. I can't tell you exactly how to do this in Gimp though.
