View Full Version : Zero Worm Drawing Contest 5
Smoligans, 2007's already half over. I'll be old before I even know it. Guess I better fire up the 5th annual -- yeah, I've really been around for this long, and I can name several who've been around longer -- Zero Worm Drawing Contest. You know the drill: Draw Zero Worm. Draw him scaling a big ol' mountain in order to claim Excalibur, or skydiving and fighting against the Devil on the way down, or making pottery, or belching, or really whatever you want, so long as you think it's cool.
As always, here are the rules you'd better follow or else.
1. One entry per contestant. If you decide you don't like your entry, you can withdraw it and do a new one if you like.
2. Any medium is accepted, except for animations -- still images only, please. Allowing animations would unbalance the competition pretty dramatically.
3. You can make it whatever size you want, but make it quickly viewable in this thread -- attach it directly to your post if that works for you, use img tags if it's small enough, img in a smaller version if it's too big.
4. Be tasteful on whatever gore you decide to include. I think it was year 2 or 3 where half the entries had red spraypaint plastered all over the place. It gets tiresome.
5. You all know that I'm a lazy jerk who hates such things as commitment and organization, so as always, the competition will close for entries whenever they stop coming in. Let us know if you have something in the pipeline, and I'll probably wait up for you. Afterwards, I'll pick out 10 finalists, who will be added to a poll to decide the final winner, and runners-up if that's your sort of thing.
6. Golden Rule: Don't take this too seriously; It's meant to be fun!
The winner will reciiieeeve... know what? I keep offering prizes and not coming up with anything. Chances to be in the old Zero Comics, trophies, etc... I might as well not really offer a prize, because I hardly ever deliver. If you're a winner or a runner-up, you'll gain the IMMENSE prestiege at having won or almost won the 5th Zero Worm Drawing Contest, and I'll probably take any possible requests for/about the Forum Comic a bit more seriously. You get my drift.
Make it so!

Excellent. Now I can kill 2 birds in one shot. :P
Edit: Make that 3 perhaps.
Edit2: Or 4.
just draw a trophy which is small enough to be set as an avatar.
make that a grand prize. maybe a gold, silver, bronze. and runner-ups get little tokens.

OK, here's my entry, with the Excalibur, just you said, drawn in MS Paint. Sorry if I can't draw your hat well, but for me it's too difficult! If you don't know what are these green things in the backround, they are trees and grass. I linked it because my entry is big (800x600 pixels)!
Edit : Updated my entry.
Edit 2 : Added eyebrows.
Edit 3 : Made the hat better.

Ideally, you could have two different attack buttons corresponding to the two blades, and pressing them in different sequences would result in various different move combinations for ultimate Zero dual-bladed future-suity asskickery.

Though you can get an official copyright that'll hold up well in court. That costs money, though.

Sword /sɔrd, soʊrd/ - Spelled Pronunciation --> [sawrd, sohrd]
–noun
A weapon having various forms but consisting typically of a long, straight or slightly curved blade, sharp-edged on one or both sides, with one end pointed and the other fixed in a hilt or handle.
Light Saber [encyclopedia]
-noun
The lightsaber is the name of a weapon that plays a key role in the movies, games and novels that constitute the Star Wars universe. Lightsabers are science fiction versions of their namesake, the saber, but with the metal blade replaced by something resembling a solid bar or cylindrical beam of light about one meter long. Lightsabers differ in color (red, blue, green and purple have appeared in the six films, and other colors appear in the Expanded Universe). Though they often behave like regular swords, they have been depicted as able to penetrate and cut through most matter with little or no resistance, and to deflect shots from blasters, the ranged weapons used in the Star Wars franchise. Obi-Wan Kenobi described them as "an elegant weapon for a more civilized age."

Sword /sɔrd, soʊrd/ - Spelled Pronunciation --> [sawrd, sohrd]
–noun
A weapon having various forms
A light saber can be interpreted as one of these forms.
Lightsabers are science fiction versions of their namesake, the saber
Something that is a specific version of a sword is a sword.
It's generally better and more specific to say "light saber" instead of swords because light sabers are a type of sword (Like how a rapier should be called a rapier), but it's still a dumb thing to argue about.
And they aren't light sabers, anyway. They're Z-Sabers. :p
thats a saber. more like a laser sword.

Well what I said was very vague, and all the important spoily stuff is inside the link.
I said I was going to work on an entry for this, and the truth is I have been. A very large entry.
However, I've decided that I'm not actually going to enter my entry into this competition. The main reason is because I realised that it actually has very little to do with Zero at all, so it'd be a bit stupid entering it into a Zero competition. (Yet, he's still a major part of it. Confused?)
So there. Just so you're not waiting on my entry.

But there's still one thing: why does the helmet have a green visor?
Well, what color did you expect the visor to have? :p

...What?
Faraz has a newly-developed tendancy to make posts that have absolutely nothing got to do with any other posts in the thread.
lol everything you draw is a "quick-doodle"/"Quicky doodlie doo" etc...etc
This is because of everyone else really. I don't like drawing worms very much anymore, and if I spend more than say, an hour, on something for the forums... it will either be ignored by everyone with the exception of few (usually 2) people. And if I ever get comments on something I've spent time on, the comments get off-topic within 2-3 posts, and a stupid conversation/argument takes its place. (see any of my art threads)
So thats why mostly everything I do is a 'quickie'. It's because nobody ever really showed they gave a damn about my stuff. :p
So I ain't wasting my time on this place anymore. The only reason, in fact, that I did enter this... was to at least do something for Zero. Thats it. I couldn't give a rats ass if I win or not, and I didn't do it for praise.

I was pretty much gonna post the last call here tonight -- one last check to see who's still working on something, who was going to work on something but doesn't feel like bothering, etc. If you have a work in progress or would still like to enter, I can wait as long as you need, but if nobody else is gonna add anything, I'll wrap it up at like the end of the week or something.

the hilt looks more like a head crab than a weapon. the helmet looks like someone planted an explosive in his head and it exploded while he was walking through a daffy duck cartoon. his expression looks constipated or painful, or both. and I think someone forgot to kneed the bread his tail is made out of, cause it's really lumpy for no reason.
