Diference between 'patch' and 'update'?

hi, i'm confused and i don't know what to install. in the wa site there's an update (http://wormsarmageddon.team17.com/main.html?page=supp&area=upda)and a patch (http://wormsarmageddon.team17.com/main.html?page=supp&area=patc)
which is the diference between the update and the patch? do i need to install both? which should i install first?

you only really need the update it all come on latest update

at the moment, the latest update downloads everything that is needed for you to have a working up to date copy.
