View Full Version : Can't Host a Worms Armageddon game

I've forwarded all the relevant ports in my router, I have them and Worms as exceptions in my windows firewall. I can't get it to work. I'm a bit thrown off by the ip address "force ip" thing in the configuration. Which IP address do I use? The one on whatismyip, my static ip address or my dynamic ip address linked to my computer. It doesn't make sense!
the one @ http://whatismyip.org/
and make sure you forwarded 17011 and what do you mean the IP address that links to your computer oO

between my computer and my router.
I tried using the one you linked to, but it still won't host. Thanks for trying to help though:)

Try hosting a game, minimising and then using this website (http://www.canyouseeme.org/) to check if your port 17011 is open.
If it's not, you'll have to revise your router and PC firewall's configurations.

It isn't open... the thing is that I have it forwarded on my router and firewall. Would this be an ip address issue?
in your router, is it forwarded for your current local IP? if your local IP is not static then i recomend changing it to static else you will need to update your router info every time your local IP changes.
unless this is automatically handled by some routers... i assum uPnP devices handle dynamic local IPs and port forwarding properly...

Hey thanks, I'll look into this. Cool! I'm from Queensland too! (Brisbane)
Hi, I'm having exactly the same problem.
The thing is, that we have 2 routers in a row (one more or less as an access point), but I forwarded the ports 17010-17012 to my static IP adress on both routers.
But the linked Website also tells me:
Error: I could not see your service on xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx on port (17011)
Reason: Connection timed out
So there is some error ;)

So there is some error ;)Hmm, have you tried forwarding the port through the first router to the second router instead? And then through the second to your internal IP.
Sounded quite logical, but doesn't work.
Then, the port tester says the connection was refused, so router 1 was configured correctly when I forwarded the ports to my PC directy.
The second router is a D-Link D-524, I entered the ports at "Virtual Server" and so they were entered at the firewall-page automatically.
I have probelm... I enabled 17011 port in my firewall in TCP and UPD mode... cheked on linked site and there was error... then I turned off my firewall still nothing...
I have no routers! I don't know what's the problem... and can't solv it very long time...
btw I typed correct IP in worms armageddon, tried with "force IP" enabled and disabled... and many things... I tried programs that are build for IP passing( including WormNAT in WormKit package...) and still nothin'... HELP!
oh, i meant www.whatismyip.org up in my first post >.> oO both work?

I can see only one solution...it worked for a guy I know called Phil. He had an impossible router!
Get Hamachi!
Hamachi is a program that generates it's own special I.P for you, and it does all the work, and creates a sort of "Virtual LAN" between the players on a network. Unfortunately, to play against anyone else, they have to have hamachi, and be on the same network.
My worms network is T17Forum, with password Worms, but nobody's joined it.
Oh, and it's free.
www.hamachi.cc
I had hamachi erlyer... but it is stupid to go on WormNET to seek players who will be kind to play with you over hamachi...
btw if my 17011 port is closed will I be able to host games even over hamachi?
He had an impossible router!
How does an impossible router look? Something like that?

Hi,
as I see you know well this whole IP problem, so maybe you can help me out. :) I have the normal situation: dynamic Ip, router with a built in firewall. I can find this dynamic adress with the pages you linked here. After that the only thing in that case I had to do to open the port you mentioned above? And after that I can play without any other changing? I mean: i don't have to use this proxy thing at the connection options in the game, i can play with the correct and forced IP?
hello i'm italian, so excusa my english.....
i can't play.... help me!
Tortu: You do not need to set up any proxy settings in Worms unless you use a proxy server for internet access (check Internet Explorer options if you're not sure, but chances are you won't be using a proxy). You do need to use the forced IP bit like you said.
Try joining someone else's game first, most of this port forwarding stuff is for hosting games as opposed to playing in other games.
Francx: You will need to give us some more details. Which part doesn't work?

I use ZoneAlarm Pro as my firewall and i can join games. My problems is that i can't host games. I have put my IP in correctly. What could be the problem? Thanks in advance for any help given :)
Regards,
David
If you are on a network, you need to ensure that your ports are forwarded to your lan IP address and the Worms configuration has your internet IP address in it.
If you're not on a network, try temporarily disabling ZoneAlarm and the windows firewall to see if that allows you to host. With both of those off you can see if there is something else you need to fiddle with.

No, not on a network. I'm trying what you suggested now and it looks like it's still not working.

So what do i need to do to get it working?

Unblocking the hosting port and forcing the external IP if you've an internal IP.
If you're not on a network and can't host, something must still be blocking the port.

Try hosting a game, minimising and then using this website (http://www.canyouseeme.org/) to check if your port 17011 is open.
If it's not, you'll have to revise your router and PC firewall's configurations. Thats odd. Any port I check using that site gives me the error "No route to host"
because your firewall blocks all ports by default? same with your router most likely.

No, that couldn't be it, franpa. It seems your ISP messed something up in their rooting tables; contact them and ask them about the error.

No, that couldn't be it, franpa. It seems your ISP messed something up in their rooting tables; contact them and ask them about the error. Could that possibly be the cause of other people's inability to host?

The causes are quite varied and sometimes need to be resolved on a case-by-case error - however, most of the time it's being behind an unconfigured router.
