View Full Version : Vista Slowdown Issue
Hi guys, I'm new. So, here's a standard vista tech support thread...
My system is an Athlon 64 3200+ with a NVIDIA 7900GS card (latest stable drivers). I'm running Windows Vista Ultimate (32-bit).
I've installed W:A from the CD via the autoinstaller/patcher. I am experiencing no problems with color palette, blackness, flickering, menu slowdown, or any of the other common problems.
Yet, whenever I start a game, it runs like a slideshow. I'm getting about one frame-per-second or less, and I'm not sure why. Has anyone experienced anything like this before? Are there any solutions other than waiting for the 4.0 patch?
Thanks in advance.:(
Install Windows XP or Linux. Windows Vista is just crap at the moment. Give it some time dude, this happened to Windows XP until SP2 was released.
Also you can read the other Windows Vista's issues topic, perhaps you find a solution to your problem.
I advise you to get Linux ubuntu and install beryl. You'll have better effects and a nicer interface than Windows Vista.
See you.
is there a kubuntu equivalent to beryl? Just the kubuntu interface is nice already and I want to see if it's possible to get even nicer.

Huh? Beryl can be used with any disto :o
good, because I thought that themes for GNOME might not work in KDE, that's good news.
Anyway, from what I've seen, beryl isn't a specific theme (as far as I can see), but an archive of themes. Which one do you reccomend? If beryl is a specific theme but I'm looking in the wrong place, could you point me towards it?
Just formatted and put XP on, works fine.
I'm glad for you pal. Just stick to XP until Vista gets more stable and friendly.
Muzer, contact me or Cheese in Gamesurge IRC server, Channel #worms We use to be all the time there.

Beryl is no theme. Beryl is a window-manager!

;)
But for more questions go and ask in IRC, as this thread goes offtopic rapidly and dhf fixed his problem by installing XP.
