16 bit Windows Subsystem
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\AUTOEXEC.NT. The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications. Choose Close to terminate the application.
www.nanacide.com/wahelp sez:
R2. "C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\AUTOEXEC.NT. The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications. Choose "Close" to terminate the application."
In your Start Menu click "Run...", type "cmd" and click OK. In the black prompt box that pops up, type:
copy c:\windows\repair\autoexec.nt c:\windows\system32
If this doesn't work, you can perform the same task manually. Navigate to
c:\windows\repair\
and copy the file "autoexec.nt" to your clipboard. Then navigate to
c:\windows\system32
and paste the file there.

There are no better instructions. Bonz said all. (And his solution works.)

And don't make two threads about the same topic.

I know but I cant understand Bonz instructions.

1. In your Start Menu click "Run...", type "cmd" and click OK.
2. In the black prompt box that pops up, type: copy c:\windows\repair\autoexec.nt c:\windows\system32

If this doesn't work, you can perform the same task manually.

1. Navigate to c:\windows\repair\
2. copy the file "autoexec.nt" to your clipboard.
3. Then navigate to c:\windows\system32 and paste the file there.

What's so hard about to understand? Ask your parents to do it for you then.

computer says still that thing c:\windows\repair\autoexec.nt c:\windows\system32 is not a valid Win32 application

Maybe you do a mistake in that copy?

Or I do a mistake in your instruction following?

Or I do a mistake in your instruction following?

Seems like. The copy command doesn't execute any application except the copy command. ;)

Just try the second approach.

And welcome to the forums, btw.

Oh my!

All you have to do is copy the file c:\windows\repair\autoexec.nt to c:\windows\system32.

Open up Windows Explorer, navigate to the first location, highlight the file, copy it, navigate to the other location, paste it.

Nice - although you could have used the /Y switch to avoid the "overwrite?" question.
