Now... first off, i've read the FAQ's, and seen some of the other posts on this forum... its late, maybe i'm overlooking something but here it goes:
My friend and i have been quite thrown back down memory lane by the release of Worms on Xbox Live. So we decided to try my old copy of WA on my computers in hopes of having more fun outta the increased excitability of the PC version. I have run into problems when running on Both my Desktop, and my Laptop. here they are... hope someone can help.
I'm using an OLD version from a good 8 years ago. to my knowledge, its an original CD version
Desktop
-Install goes clean and fresh.
-WA_update-3.6.26.5_Beta_Installer.exe goes on fine.
-the game starts.
-some menus are a tiny bit twitchy now and then. no biggie?
-go to open a match, i get no load screen, it goes blank and the computer freezes. My monitors use DVI connections, and the main one of the 2 shows the little green "DVI" in the top right corner like it was disconnected from its DVI cable.
-computer requires restart.
Now, i'm using XP Home, with SP2, and directX. 9.0c. I DO have an nVidea eVGA 8800GTX, so i think it COULD be that.... but i want other opinions before i settle on waiting for the support for it.
Toshiba A20 Laptop
-Install goes clean and fresh.
-WA_update-3.6.26.5_Beta_Installer.exe goes on fine.
-added the "/nointro" line of code.
-game launches all choppy and flaky flashing between game menu and shows some black embossed rectangle in the upper 3rd of the screen (which when flashes to the game menu looks like its the WA logo on the main menu) i have to crash it by "ctrl+alt+Del" and end the task. then it gives me a windows error that its not responding and asks for the error reporting.
The laptop is running WinXP SP2, DirectX 9.0c, and has a "Trident Cyber ALADDiN-P4 v6.4627.22ICD_SE_NP" listed as the device name in the dxdiag under the "Display" tab.
We'd really like to get this going.... even if it means we can only get one to work, then wait till theres more support for the 8800. I mean, our buddy Just installed my old disc on his Brand new Acer Ferrari laptop the other night and played the game with NO problems at all. with NO updates, and only a fresh original install. What gives?!
:(
