Hi guys, new to the forum.. but not to Worms. I was a long-time fan of Worms Armageddon and played some of Worms 2 and Worms World Party. Anyway, as a huge fan of Worms I have to say I am very disappointed with the ninja rope abilities being significantly reduced. I spent probably 90-95% of my time playing worms with roping games and these were some great games once you got good with the rope. Other than that scenario, the super weapons / strong weapons like the holy hand grenade, super sheep, etc made the game interesting with the luck factor as well as hilarious in certain situations.

Now I see all that has changed. Why?

I dont mind playing a worms game with mostly bazooka and grenade as thats where the skill really lies most of the time.. but with 3-4 people, you just HAVE to have the big weapons. It just makes the game more of a group/'party' type thing. So I guess my questions are,

Why the changes,
Will we see additional weapons later, added in? and,
Any chance the rope will be reverted back to its classic abilities?

Hi, '975, welcome to the forum.

If you'd have read some of the threads floating about you would already have your answers. There will not be any more weapons. The XBLA version is virtually a remake of the classic, first generation Worms games, where the rope didn't have such an impactive nature on play. By reducing the number of weapons, especially the hideously large damage ones, much of the luck is taken out and the focus is put on skill and accuracy. That's not to everyone's taste, but that's how it is. The only things that will happen is that there will be some downloadable content such as speechbanks and terrain/object types AFAIK and some bug fixes. The core gameplay will remain the same.

Worms: Armageddon for the PC is being updated even today. If you prefer that style of Worms you may be interested in the new features. The game's continued development has certainly kept its online userbase relatively large.

Whether or not large damage weapons are a necessity for games with more than two players is opinion. It's also opinion that roping in second generation games made it far too easy to kill a worm the other side of the landscape without using distance weapons. People in that camp tend to be those who favour the bazooka and grenade style of play, but this has been an issue for a long time, before March 7th.

I like the rope, and at first I too was disappointed with its ability, but I knew I just had to adapt. After some consideration you may come to recognise the benefit of cavern maps. These weren't available in the original, first gen games, where the rope performed as it did now. It's a nice sync-up of two features from two generations.

Please look out for me if you're ever in the mood for a game.
