Uhm... reading?
"If you have a map that has been saved in one of the following formats: .BMP .TGA .JPE .JPEG or .JPG, then put it in "Worms Armageddon\User\Import" and use the in-game map editor to import it (using the floppy disk icon). The map can then be saved as a .PNG"
Forget paint. Download the Gimp (http://www.gimp.org) and save your maps in *.png format. You then can put these maps in user/SavedLevels/ in your worms folder.

Reading the manual would help in this case. ;)

Just use the map editor on the game host screen.
Right click on the small map preview image.

Guess what we were trying to tell you in our previous posts:

ah, um evilworm2, how do i make a map that works in W:A with GIMP? i open for instance the "beef race.png" map, resave it as "beef race 2.png" and W:A reports an error upon trying to load the second file =\
You probably have too many colours.
Go to image, then mode, then indexed. Turn dithering to none, then choose 113 colours.
You'll need to double check that black comes out as pure black, otherwise you'll end up with a mole shoppa map.....
if i open a image that is already indexed etc. then that option under "image" is greyed out...
- so i have to open a image
- edit it as i like
- save it
- open it then index it then save it again?
edit: no, the option is still greyed out... how is the palette getting changed if i open a pre designed map?
You could turn it to rbg then index it again.
There is a way to see the actual palette used and change them individually, but I'm not sure how to do that... I'm still learning too.
this map works fine, yet if i open it in GIMP and make zero changes to it and save it as a *.png file then the end result will stop working.
does W:A support *.PNG files at a level 9 compression?
Here I turned it to rbg, then indexed it at 112 colours (just to be safe), then saved it as a .png, level 9 compression, all of the boxes unchecked.
Works fine.
Hang on, silly me. I can't just upload it here.
There. rar'd it now.
-Attachment removed-
AH HA ! i found out what i was doing wrong :) when you "save as" make sure it is a *.png or whatever but on the next screen untick everything.
thank you melon, without your above post i would not have found this on my own :)
Yeah. It can't have any extra information in the image as far as I know.
I guess I didn't need to upload it, but it's there if you want it.
yea, you can remove the attachment :)
is "tools" "colormap" the palette?
Dialogs --> Color map is the palette. And you can change them easily.
I guess I've learned something. We've both helped each other!
Yeah!!!
Oh wait sorry, I thought you said MAPP.
ROFL.
one last thing i can't work out, i can't write text on the image =\
i wish to add my tag to the map even tho it is only a colour change, I've been wanting to do this for a while now and could never get the text thing to work in photoshop or fireworks either, perhaps you could help with gimp?
i am the person that altered this map if you were wondering where it came from oO, it was done only a few months ago "Friday, February 02, 2007".
edit: i am making a rar of it.
edit 2: DAMN YOU 100k limit, and sorry but winrar was screwing around and so i split it 50k each part except the last part obviously, it was over by 3.2k
I can't extract them, because you've rar'd your part files, and so they can't extract properly, I suppose they part files can't find each other.
To add Text in GIMP, you click the text tool. Choose your colour, size, (you might want to turn antialiasing off and hinting on when doing an indexed worms map.)
Click on your screen, write what you want. WITHOUT closing the text box, go back and alter the size, etc. so it fits perfectly. Then you can close it. Use the arrow tool to drag it to where you want.
When you are happy with it, go to layers, and MERGE the text layer down with your original layer. Or flatten the image. Make sure you fit layer to image size if you've gone outside the image border.
Now index your image as usual.
download all 3 parts and place them together then extract part 1 which will in turn extract all 3 parts, or visit http://www.clanaf1.com/name/viewtopic.php?t=106 and download the second map.
i can;t get the text to NOT be black like the rest of the image... how do i resolve this issue?
The Text tool has a seperate colour picker.
You cannot change anything to do with the text you are wrting once you close the box that you write in when you use the tool. Remember that.
-EDIT- Except move it, but you can't resize it, change it's colour, etc.
i can not get text to work because text colour is based on a indexed colour and i don't know which indexed colour it is nor do i know how to change what indexed colour the font refers to thus it is stuck as black which is stupid =\
font works fine if i convert the image to RGB but then i lose the map because everything becomes solid. (the map consists of multiple black)
the font colour chooser only works in RGB mode =\
OK. Go to dialogs --> Colourmap to bring up your palette. Click on the + button under the palette to add a new colour to the palette, then double click it to change it to the colour you want it to be.
If you don't wish to ADD a new colour, just use one from the existing palette, just choose the one you want. I don't think you can add more colours after 255, so you may need to change an existing one in that case. (obviuosly worm maps don't support 255 colours, but you know what I mean).
Finally, make sure it is your foreground colour (click on it once to select it.) Click the text tool, and it should now by the default colour for writing the text in.
Hope that helps.
will check it out once my PC gets fixed... might be a week or more till it is tho.
