View Full Version : Ten things I don't like
1. The rope - But I saw that there's already a thread, so nothing more here ;)
2. The mines - Please give us back the old angry mines of Worms 1, I hate the delay on the explosions.
3. No bungee rope - kick the jet pack out instead.
4. Limited number of ammo on some weapons - It's OK to limit to 9 or 10, but I want 5 cluster bombs and 2 homing missiles from the beginning.
5. Health packs - at least put in an option to turn them off
6. The Weapons have too little impact - The damage is OK (although the splash damage could get a bigger radius), but the worms should be thrown around a bit more.
7. The power gauge - This balloon thing is utter rubbish. Please bring back the old plain meter on the bottom right side near the wind meter.
9. The cross hairs - They are too big and too near to the worm, so it's quite difficult to see where the line is going
10. The frame rate - OK, this one seems to be a general Xbox Live Arcade issue. But why can't even simple games like Worms run at 60fps? Did Microsoft screw up here or is the demand for 60fps so little that no developer bothers any more? Worms luckily isn't a game that becomes unplayable when not running at 60fps, but it is still annoying seeing the map moving at 30fps and getting stuck even then.
Well I bought it anyway, but if I had know that the options are limited this much, I actually would have considered not buying it.
5. Health packs - at least put in an option to turn them off
Huh? This is one I didn't hear before...
Do you mind explaining why?
I don't like the fact that they can decide a whole match when only a few worms with little health are left. They can easily boost a worm from about 20 points (sure kills) to near 50 or more which makes them very hard to kill with one shot. In this phase they are too much of a luck thing.
Framerate??? My framerate is pretty nice...
But the crosshair is really stupid. And too big with to many details in it.
But the biggest thing is really that the worms should fly way more higher and the radius of the explosions is sooo stupid. The explosion is big, but the worm of the CPU just stands some feets away and he gets no demage.
I wouldn't buy it again. Played the demo and thought, well, the full game will have missions and stuff. But the singleplayer is so boring.
And the pyhsic is just one thing: Horrible!

Framerate? Whaddya mean it won't run a 60? Mine does! I have my Xbox 360 set to 60FPS PAL mode, and it works fine! Worms looks great, it's so smooth!

I have my Xbox 360 set to 60FPS PAL mode
that could be it right there. pal is only 576 lines. at 1080p, you have to work with almost 4x the pixels. so it's quite possible, if Gojira is running the game in 1080p, that he's not getting the 60hz that you get easily.
edit: in fact, i'm pretty sure that pal is 576i, so that would be 8x the pixels for 1080p.

I play the game in 1080i and it seems to be a decent frame rate. The map generating seems just as slow as it was on the PSP and the AI always takes at least 15 seconds, just like on PSP. The wait doesn't really bother me but it drives my brother insane.

the required fill rate for 1080i is still half that needed for 1080p.
I'm using the 1360x768-resolution since it's the native resolution of my TV. But the framerate is definitely not the biggest problem of worms, since it's round based and no action game. But when a lot of others things don't fit as well, it's another thing that bothers and more difficult to look over it ;)

I agree whole heartedly with these points, although after several hours of play I have to say that I'm slowly getting the hang of the rope system.
Weapons have very little impact which softens the gameplay to infuriating levels; I heard it was in an effort to help 'casual gamers' get into the game without getting consistantly wasted by opponents. I think this is nonsense personally - the casual crowd would actually benefit from max damage weapons more than the hardcore! I mean, who'd willingly chose the cluster bombs anymore? They barely do any damage unless near water!
You're right about the crosshairs, especially when they blend with the background scenery! Several times I've been robbed of victory due to shotgun misalignment!

I disagree with these to varying degrees.
Framerate isn't really an issue - it looks great in 720p, although the girders are a little slow to move long distances ;)
Health packs are a vital tactical element in the game and I'd hate to see them gone, although I don't see a reason why an option to remove couldn't have been included. Similarly, Ammo limitation is to ensure even game mechanics, although a few more homing missles might be worthy of a look-in for the first patch.
I'm happy with the mines as they are, although instant activation is a pain - why no remote detonation?
Keep the jetpack - it ROCKS :D
What about boobytrap crates? :p
