What happens if the host leaves a game?

I was just playing a 3 way ranked match, and the host was the first to get eliminated. He said he was going to leave, then said that when he tried to leave he got a message that the game session would end for all players, so he stayed.

Does anyone know if that warning is true - if a host leaves a game, does it end the match for everyone else? Since I believe this game is hosted by the actual host player and not a neutral server, it would make sense. I just wanted to know for sure.

Well, I haven't played many online matches so far (3 in total), but I played in one which had a leaver (not the host) and the entire game stopped because of that leaver.

If the host leaves, the game ends. Joiners can leave without ending the game.
