Whenever I play WA (US version, latest patch) i can make my own team and start games but whenever a match ends be it by win or lose or even if I just quit the match to go back to the menu, not only does the game crash but my computer actually restarts!. I can't imagine what could cause this. I got the game from my friend who said he was bored with it and told me the website to get the patches and everything and he has no idea what the problem could be.
Another issue, though not quite as glaring, is that while in menu the particles (wrenches and stars etc.) in the background are flying by so fast that it looks really bad. Plus the Worms theme isn't playing in the background like it does in the Playstation version. My computer is pretty fast, is it possible that it is too fast for such an old game?
Any help is greatly appreciated.

I had this problem - it was resolved by making an ISO of my WA CD and using it in a virtual drive. You'll need Alcohol 52% to do this (tis free, search for it on google).

I use the latest version of Daemon Tools (v4.08 X86) and it has no adware whatsoever.

Alcohol 52% is the free version of Alcohol 120%. It's not time limited or anything, but it obviously has some features removed.
It works perfectly for making ISOs from CDs/DVDs and also mounting ISOs on Virtual Drives.
Sometimes when I finish a match or sometimes when I'm about to go into a match, the game crashes and windows brings up an error message of "WA has encounted a problem and needs to close".
It rarely happens though but it'll happen 1 out of 30 games played (or about to play)

the cd i was given was in good shape when i installed but is rather scratched now so i already was mounting the ISO using DT. and my computer doesnt return to windows when the game crashes, it reboots and it's not a 1 in 30 time, it's every time sadly...

Right-Click My Computer and click Properties. Go to the Advanced tab and click Settings under "Startup and Recovery" and then ensure "Automatically Restart" is NOT ticked, click OK twice.
Now try again, and if you get a blue screen, it may help in determining the problem.

I get crashes 1 out of every 3 times and it really, really sucks since it doesn't even save my progress. I'm hoping the new version will be more stable but since that's going to be awile, it would be nice to get this version working properly. I've tried all the versions, ISO and CD, I've reinstalled it numerous times and even experience the problem on my brand new computer. I don't know how everyone running XP doesn't have this problem. Game's running 800x600, don't know if that has anything to do with it but that's the only res. I think the game is playable on (higher res=too small of characters/ lower res=no landscape to see).
do you have the latest windows updates? try installing the optional updates...
And are you 100% sure that you do have the latest update and it's not just the patch?

Well, I followed the exact steps on the Nanacide Wa help page which means that I did use the update. Although that one is an installation program where as the update from Team17 is a 7zip file that I have to copy and paste from. Don't know if that has anything to do with it. I never installed the patch as I was never instructed to on the nanacide help page and also I think it's only for the European version and I have the SoldOut version.
And I am completely up to date on Windows updates.:)
