This thread has given me a brilliant idea for a Peripherals article name.
Unfortunately, I can't think of an article to go with it.
Still, doesn't "Rage Against The Incredible Machine" have a lovely ring to it?
Still, doesn't "Rage Against The Incredible Machine" have a lovely ring to it?
Is that where you try for days to turn on a mouse wheel that moves a convyor belt that gets a baseball to light a torch which sets off some dynamite so another baseball can pull a plunger which blasts a football into some pipes so it is thrown across the screen so it flicks a switch which runs a generator that opens a jack in the box which hits a see saw that it turns on a lava lamp that fires a cannon into another see saw that strikes a match which lights a missile and blows up a blimp?

Because that would make me rage.
Or are you thinking of something else?

http://www.crazy-machines.com/ crazy machines (TIM in 3D, sort of) ***s 'm all, but it's more of a spin off
I kinda liked TIM 2 with all the weird items, but the first one was really the most addicting. All the spinoffs like the cartoon-themed one were sort of boring though.

If memory serves number 3 was just number 2 in windows.
But yeah, the first was the best.
The mice and cats where fun, but screw you, Mel Schlemming, screw you.

I've got TIM 3, for the obvious, Windows-based reason.
TIM 3 = TIM 2 in windowmode right?
Well, I never played the original, but I was totally adicted to TIM 2 for YEARS. It was the first real PC game I had, so go figure ;)

EDIT: I wouldn't say it was my best, but certainly one of my neatest and sharpest topic changes. One to savour in future years, I'm sure...

Indeed. I built several puzzles where the aim was to kill Mel in increasingly nasty ways.

TIM 2 = TIM 1 + lots of new stuff but didn't really change the core gameplay at all, so I don't see why you'd hate it so much
TIM 3 = TIM 2 + windows support + professor voices (or at least my TIM2 didn't have them)
Contraptions (in Melon's screenshot) = TIM 3 + new media (you know, graphics, music, sound... the stuff that doesn't affect gameplay at all)
So I don't see why you'd pick a favorite from virtually exact games. Then again, this is the Worms forum...
The mice and cats where fun, but screw you, Mel Schlemming, screw you.Yeah he was quite hateful, but due to the odd way he worked, I never solved the Mel Schlemming puzzles "properly", I just ended up using every object I had to cleverly get him to bounce and slide and walk towards its goal, since it still counts even if he falls asleep.
Then again, I probably solved most puzzles that way. :p
I kinda liked TIM 2 with all the weird items, but the first one was really the most addicting. All the spinoffs like the cartoon-themed one were sort of boring though. If you mean The Incredible Toon Machine / Sid & Al's Incredible Toons, I quite liked it. Possibly because I got it when I was a kid before I found The Incredible Machine, but even though not as challenging, I liked the wackiness.

I've noticed something odd: the pinball has way, way more inertia than the bowling ball.
Try making a ramp and rolling a pinball into a bowling ball. Now roll a bowling ball into a pinball.
Heck of a difference, isn't there?
Yet the bowling ball has far more volume.

No! Stop doing that you evil fiend!
Anyways, I've never played any of the other machines, so TIM 3 is all I know, but Sup's point sounds, er, sound.
And yes, Mel can go to hell. Cats rule though.

Well in fairness, if someone starts a topic about Rage Against The Machine in the Team17 forum and it gets sidetracked into a conversation about a computer game that's just bringing it more on topic.

Anyone else (other than Dan and I) catch that Valentine's Day easter egg yesterday?
The Easter egg in what? The forum? The Incredible Machine?
Because I know that on certain days you get an extra item appear when you create a level in TIM.
There's a cupid that acts like a blimb that pops baloons on Valentine's day, a leprachaun that does a jig when something hits it on St. Patrick's day, and a bat that flaps it's wings when something hits it on Halloween.

The Homemade puzzles in TIM 3 have a little pie icon where the difficulty icon would normally go.
Is it the same for the other TIMs?

There was a cupid item in TIM?
The only valentines day easter-egg I can recall was that the red balloons turned heart shaped.
Well I only have Contraptions, although I used to have the others. And red balloons aren't in contraptions, so you must be talking about the original.
In contraptions, you get new objects to play around with on certain days. I don't know about the other ones as I've never seen any new objects in them.
