Trymedia Error with online plz help

Hi,

So I have downloaded teh game through gamestop, and i believe its the trymedia version. It asks me when im installing the game if i want to have the xp patch, i clicked ok. I tried a variety of patches, and no patches, i either get "please have cd in drive" or "incompatable" version when i try to connect a game online. What should i do. Again its the trymedia download game. First should I install the xp patch or watever its called that im asked when i install. Second what should I do after that.

edit: When i click the exe as well, the game just wont run nothing happens, sometimes itl work sometimes i have to restart my computer doesnt make sense...

The latest update available for TryMedia versions is 3.5 Beta 2. This update is quite old (from August 2002), and TryMedia has not released any more updates since. If you would like to use the latest Beta updates, you will need a CD-ROM version of the game.

The CD/DVD version of the game is considerably cheaper, even including shipping, than the TryMedia ripoff. The best thing to do is to order it from https://secure.team17.com (it comes with a couple of other Worms games in the box for free!) and then try to get a refund from TryMedia.

If you're in the UK, HMV have knocked a few quid off of some of their PC releases. The Sold Out release of Worms 3D is only £4, for instance. You can probably get the Sold Out Worms 2 + Worms Armageddon double pack for the same price (I paid £5 for the copy I picked up for a friend).
