Is there something I could use to turn a PNG into a font?

Here is the image (I want ALL the symbols as well put into it, as unused chars or something, so I can get them from character map)

Any image program that suports both Png and Tif formats should be able to convert the file as simply as clicking 'save as' and selecting Tif from the drop down.

Unless I'm missing something here.

Anyway, I saved it as a Tif and put it in this zip for you:

Not TIF. TTF -- he wants a font.

Thing is, I'm pretty sure TTF is a vector-only format, so you can't really "convert" a PNG into one, unless you have lots of little squares, which may well lead to rendering issues. What do you want it for?

OK, maybe not TTF then. Just a font file
Just for typing (doesn't matter if it only works with one size)

Because you may recognise that as being the DS's pictochat font.

Oh, so it is. Very considerate of them to put all the PSP's button symbols in there ;)

Illustrator could do the trick, though im not sure how.. even though I have a book on it :p

Bonz: In your program, you can't import an image to cover all the symbols, no matter how hard you try. I don't want to have to cut out each individual bit and stick it in, I want to be able to make some type of formula to get it to do all that automatically.

Illustrator does cost a lot.

I'm not at all sure that's going to happen.

meh.

Oh well.

Or at least have it let you choose parts of the image in a boundry box to be different letters

As Andrew pointed out, there is no way in hell you can simply turn a bitmap into a TTF file. Even if you chop it all into little pieces and "import" the bitmap into a font maker, it comes out as crap. Trust me, I've tried. Fonts are made of vectors (drawn in font-maker software or whatever) so that they can be sized, italicized, etc.

Your only chance of using that bitmap is creating a program that renders it as a bitmap font for whatever you type.

You still haven't said what you want the font for.

Turning the PNG into a TTF isn't doable, not really. There are workarounds, but they depend what you want to do with the font.

Just for the symbols right at the beginnning, actually (a, b, x, y, all the psp puttons, l, r, d-pad, etc)

I don't think you can just "add" graphics onto a font. Not without replacing existing ones anyway, and only whoever has the font will see them.

I'd really like some software which converts my scanned handwriting into a font.

I know they exist but I can't find any. If I find one I'm pretty sure it would convert any image into a font, within reason.

Edit: I gone done found stuff: This page (http://www.myfirstfont.com/) has a nice tutorial and links to demos so you can make your own font from an image, although you'll have to do some image editing and stuff.

i got "omni page pro-x" for that.. at least as far as i understood from my dad it can read your handwritings and convert it into plain text, perhaps it could make a font of your handwritten stuff too
