I've been playing worms for awhile, but just now got into the whole Online aspect of it. Sad I know, I can't believe what I've been missin' out on! Anyways, I was wondering how the clan thing works and all that jazz. Also, after you guys and gals feel me in. I wouldn't mind joining up with one of you. Or even starting up my own. So what I'm getting at is:

How does the Clan thing work?

Any open spots on a current Clan?

If no open spots, anyone want to make one?

Thanks!

Well, a clan is just a group of players you know, wich play together as a team.

Would anyone mind if what's left of the Random Heroes, Random Worm Cannoneers, Clan Void, uh, Flying Fleas blantantly advertised itself? It's been nearly a year since our last clan match though, and the attempt to re-form as the flying fleas started well, but has kinda died.

I think this (http://lukewallin.no-ip.org/wormsclan/forum/) is our current home.

Essentially clans are a bundle of people who get together and form a group, some more serious and successful than others.

Actually, I think it would be nice if ANYBODY who is in a clan looking for more members posted a link to their clan here, along with a brief description of their clan, as it'd be nice to have all the clans in one place on this forum.

Yes! That would be nice!

Anyone in a Clan looking for members? Post here!

I for one would be glad to join up with a couple guys and gals and kick some Worms Butt!

MooKoo, as already said, clans are just groups of people who play together as a team.

There is a league at www.first-blood.co.uk for W:A, and i dunno about the other Worms games but i'm sure there is at least one WWP.

Basically, once you have joined/made a clan that is registered to one or more of these leagues, you go online with a clan mate or two and challenge other clans to a league match. Make sure you have read all the league rules first, btw ;). For example, it's not uncommon to see people asking "FBCL anyone?" in #AnythingGoes on W:A (FBCL being First Blood Clan League).

There are also singles leagues, so you can just sign up yourself and play 1 on 1 with other members of the league. This is often a good way to learn how the leagues work (specific rules, etc) and develop your skills before joining a clan.

Some clans accept new members based on their personality, others based on their skill and ability, and some both. It's just a case of finding one that suits you.

This wins best explanation! Thanks! That was awesome!

So, now does anyone know of a league for WWP? I would really like to play in one. My skills aren't bad. If you want to see, I'll be on today at around 3:00 p.m.. MooKoo is the name. Thanks for all of the assistance here.

Which skills are you good at? Worms seems to have been split into 2 game types. Some people mainly like to play roping games, while others mainly like to play 'classic' games, like Intermediate and Elite.

Most clans are split into one of these groups. Which are you?

MooKoo

Well, I usually play classic and those types. I am okay with a rope. Once I started playing Online I realized how much of an asset that is. I started practicing and I've gotten better, but they are still just average. I'm not anywhere near as good as some of the "rope-gods" on there. So I guess you could say that I'm the non-rope player.

That's what I like to hear. Strategy FTW.

Here's 2 places you could try:
Worms Elite League (WEL) (http://wel.worms-league.com/) These guys tend to play their own slightly modified version of the Elite scheme and have their own league table for it. I don't think they have any entry requirements....

Normal No Noobs (NNN) (http://nnnforum.jconserv.net/) These guys play the Intermediate scheme, and also have their own league table. However, you do need to play (but not beat) the top 10 in order to join. That's so that all the players are up to a certain standard.

Make sure you always read their own rules before you join a clan.

There are more but I don't know how to find them. I'm sure somebody else can point you to them.

-EDIT- Oh yeah one more thing, many clans are beginning to 'migrate' over to Worms Armageddon. While I still think that many play on both W:A and WWP, I think many are trying to exclusively play W:A due to all the improvements. I can't play WWP on my computer, for example, and many other people have the same problem. It may be worth your while buying a copy of W:A if you want to be a serious wormer. (just don't get the Trymedia version).

Thanks a whole lot! I would be playing Armageddon, but I couldn't get it to work properly, but now that I hear this wonderful news I might try to get it up and running.

Oh yah', what is that Trymedia version? Whats wrong with it, that may be my problem.

Anyways, thanks again!!

Edit: I have read up on the rules and such and does anyone wish to be my teammate in the WEL? If so PM me or respond right here. Thanks.

One WWP league i know of is http://www.cbc-wwp.com/.

As for the TryMedia version of W:A, its main problem is that it is incompatible with CD versions that have been updated since 2002, and you won't be able to play anyone online because pretty much everybody has the latest update patch installed.

These update patches have added a lot of new stuff to the game, so you are missing out on all that with the TryMedia version also.

If you want to play W:A, i'd seriously recommend getting hold of a proper CD version of it. Check eBay if your local video game store doesn't have it - even original versions from 1999 are compatible with the updates, it's purely the TryMedia/TryGames versions that aren't.

MooKoo

Thankfully I don't have Trymedia! I have the CD version.

Thanks M3ntal for that!

Once again! Anyone up for making a team on WEL?

WEL is a WA-only league, by the way. Just in case there's confusion dwelling in the corners. Its skill standards are rather high, too, so you'll want to play quite a few non-league Elite games before jumping in. Just so you don't get discouraged. (=

MooKoo
20 Jan 2007, 03:46
Well, I have joined and have been able to play WWP with them. So apparently it isn't W:A only. As for the skill level, it is rather high. But practice makes perfect! =)
