hi there,

i was just wondering if there would be some way to create/download skins for our little friends - such as worms in military clothing, maybe something a little sci-fi (starship troopers or star wars) or retro (vietnam-style)... if there is anything like that, please tell me how to get hands on that stuff ;)

best regards

johnny

It is possible, but extremely difficult. The only one I know of is one called "WA forum style" (do a forum search for it). It is basically a "skin" with some of the weapons replaced with ones from Team17 forum members. Get it at http://forum.team17.co.uk/showthread.php?t=20591&highlight=forum+style

W:A uses sprites and not 3D meshes. Therefore, there isn't a single texture that can be edited and applied to all the animations. To change the appearance of the worm completely, you would have to edit several hundred animation or sprite files, each having anywhere between 3 - 30 frames.

Of course, it could be done with the 3D Worms games after messing around with the files.

Heck, Worms4 has it anyway!

uhm... how 'bout new flags and graves? those are just bitmap, and i've added a couple... but for some reason, the flags do not show up, and the graves cause the program to crash - what could be the problem?

I imagine they're the wrong size. Flags have to be 20x17 and graves have to be 24x32.

nah, thought of that... that doesn't seem to be the key oO

Make sure the colour depth is 8bit (256 colours) and not more.

riiight oO well, i thought, this might be the problem... but i found there were so many flags that seemed to have such color dephth (such as "fire", for example), that it wouldn't matter... let me check on that.

Oh yes, I remember having this problem now. I found the easiest way to solve it was just to copy one of the original flags and one of the original graves and use those copies as templates.
