hi,
i have just installed a czech version of worms armageddon (v3.0), tried running it under my windows xp and it worked fine, but i couldn't connect to a wormnet GAME ("bad checksum" error)
- so i downloaded the last 3.6.26.5 beta, patched all files, bud the game didn't even run :( when i replace just the exe file to the old version, i run the game, but i cannot connect to wormnet SERVER
- patching to version 3.0.5.0 was fine, the game changed its menu to english instead of czech, bat patching then to 3.6.26.5 beta didn't work :( can anyone help me? :) i think there could be some problem with the cd recognition, as my cd drive do not speed up when running 3.6.26.5, but does this with 3.0.5.0...

Where did you purchase your copy of Worms:Armageddon? Is it a licensed translation?

i'd say it is licensed, but i dunno how to prove it :) there is czech manual, czech box, and logo team 17 and microprose everywhere :) it's from well-known czech distributor of old budget games, so i hope it can be solved easily so that i could use the new functions like direct tcp/ip playing and so on...
for now it's enough that i have higher resolution (with 3.0.5.0) but if 3.6.x.x worked, it would of course be better ;)

What do you mean by "the game didn't even run" when you installed the 3.6.26.5 Beta update? Did you get an error message?

no, a process wa.exe started with cpu usage > 80%... i was able to run multiple these processes, but nothing really happened. thanks for your interest in my problem :) what seems strange to me is the fact, that the older patch works fine, but the latest one doesn't :(

It seems like your Czech distributor modified the game CD, which makes it incompatible with the official updates. This might have included tampering with the game's copy protection (hence the errors on WormNET). You should contact your distributor / whoever made the translated version - perhaps they have also localized some of the Beta updates.

I have solved the problem partially:
1) I install the game and apply 3.0.5.0 and then 3.6.26.5 patches
2) I mount some WA mini-image CD that I downloaded from the Internet (its the image of an English version)
3) I run the game and minimize it as soon as I get into main menu
4) I unmount the mini-image and mount the image of my original image
5) I PLAY WITH NO OTHER PROBLEMS :-))
CONCLUSION:
- It seems that the only problem occurs when checking the CD.
- I have to do (4) because the mini-image contains only indexes of all the files, not the files themselves (I see what is in the CD, but I can't run or open anything) so the game crashes when I want to play. When I remount the czech version again, everything is perfect :-)
Do you think there is a chance to fix this? I could provide you or any other V.I.P. of this forum with the image, so that you saw tha differences...
you did not make a proper image of your czech disc in the first place soustruh.

do you consider me an idiot? the game works with this image unpatched and also with 3.0.5.0. the problem appears only with 3.6.26.5 :-(
i also tried it with the cd in my drive, if you have read the first post properly, you'd know it ;-) but thanks for replying, i appreciate any effort to help me :-)

Nevermind him. He's franpa.
Next time just pick one of these:

i never said he didnt try using a cd... i simply mentiond the image he made was most likely a dud to begin with....
Franpa, logic dictates that if he had the same problem with the physical CD as with the CD image, the image is no worse than the CD.
You knew that though, right? By "i simply mentiond the image he made was most likely a dud to begin with", you meant, "I meant to say that the image he made was made from a bad CD.". Well, of course you couldn't have, because if you did mean that, then you would have said it. Don't try to get out of this one, Franpa. You've been pinned. Look in your own backyard before insulting others'.
NO if you make a disc with alcohol and use RMPS and the disc has protection on it and you take the image and mount it on a virtual drive which doesnt have RMPS support you effectivly got a dud image for that pc.
and yea i've never been 100% sure on if this game HAS protection on it or not... but i do know that not all data gets installed from the disc.

Franpa, you won't talk yourself out of that one.
He never ever said that he made a disk image of his Czech CD. All he did was using a mini-image (with only dummy files) to maintain the file structure of the proper Euro release and workaround the copy protection discrepancy which occurs only with the latest beta, but not with 3.0.5.0.
Of course, creating an image with algoritms that are not supported by the virtual drive software doesn't make any sense, but show one such software (in the latest version) that supports less than the software the image was created with.

I made all my CD images with CloneCD. No need to emulate any copy protection with Daemon Tools ever.
obviously your cd-writer or whatever supports reading a disc as is... unlike mine... AND in your first quote i was talking about moving the image from 1 pc to another...
but i cant talk reallly im sure your gonna pick on me anyways so ill just quietin... :)

yeah, i did exactly the same :-) stop insulting one another, that won't help me ;-) i'd be happy if someone able to fix this could take it seriously and try to fix it for the next release... i will do anything i could, the problem seems to be only with the file structure, as BONZ mentioned above
