View Full Version : Sprite Editor. Where?
I read too much about one "sprite editor", but didn't find it yet! There is a link or something like? Thanks!
NOTE: (This editor opens the .IMG files?)
You'll find the sprite editor somewhere on www.blamethepixel.com.
Opening IMG files? If you're trying to extract maps you may want to have a look here:

Oh god thanks again bonz =).

About the .IMG files, what I can do with them? (I checked the link but only the exported maps).
Thanks agaiN!
EDIT: Always I do something, I get an access violation error, or reading error. Even with the close (or exit) button! What happens?

Ah. Well the sprite editor doesn't open the IMG files. In fact, I'm not aware of anything that will successfully open them.
Oh, never mind.
So...anything would open that files? What a crazy thing (Sprite Editor seems to be, cause have a extension that can open that is .img...but...dunno however..)

The sprite editor opens the Sprite Database Files. .gdx or something.
I can't find any documentation on the Sprite Editor anywhere.
I've managed to extract the sprites but I can't seem to import anything.
Is there a help file somewhere that I'm missing?

Lol, well maybe if i ever get my PSDK (photoshop sprite developement kit, as i've recently named it (might change)) to a completed version it'll save you about 95% of the work.
I actually begon working on that because of the near impossibility of manually having to draw all of these things.
... Ok, not true, i began working on that because I figured it would be easyer then develope WA frontend generator tool, which I'm aiming to make in the far far future.

And hopefully be overtaken by v4.0's frontend overhaul. ;)

Some of the versions had a help file. Find the text document in my previous link.
EB, I do remember you saying you would try that thing one day (about 2 years ago).

Attached Palette file if anyone who want to help needs it.
I can't import this into Photoshop. When I try it tells me it is not a valid Microsoft palette. The best I can do is convert it to a .act file which allows it to import some colours but they are all very dark.
Help!

Oops. GFX was the folder.
Ok Vader, I'm going to post an image of the colours used in the Sprite palette file, and you need to make it from scratch.

The first colour (Index 0), is the colour used to indicate transparancy, I recommend you change this to a different colour (that's in the palette) that you aren't going to be using (like the horrible pink/purple).
I also suggest you keep the order of colours the same.

There's a way of opening .img files and converting them to bitmaps with the sprite editor, on this page:

Interesting. But what I don't quite understand is why you would want to open them?

Why do you want to open .IMG files?
Well, I can export the graphics of the game, and this is cool. Also, can export some maps (like the screensaver ones) that are really cool as well.
I'm just a freaky?
Maybe xD
