(It may be a plug to you, but it's a socket to me!)
Mjeh, whatever. It's too bad for thoose dying to get a early PS3, but waiting is not exactly a hard task.

See, if they'd just made enough of them to begin with, this never would have happened. I don't even know why they stagger the release -- it's not as if the PS3 was a high-risk venture (although it is now, what with the complete hash they're making of selling and distributing it). You'd think it'd be easier to make enough to go round then sell them everywhere at once.
whats this disc read error defect for the ps2?
That's a mighty big grave you've dug Sony... What's that? You decided to use the full extent of the law to buy an ultra-mechanical digger to speed things up? Well.. I shan't be attending the funeral then.
hahahaha i can only imagine this :)

The low number of PS3's are because of the blue ray drives. They are supposedly hard to make.

~Something tells me someone has good business acumen, and it isn't Sony.
Microsoft sabotages Sony's factories?

WRAUNG, there is a shortage of blue LEDs, possible because there has (up until now) been quite a small market for them :p
What's worse is that this has all lead to Lik-Sang being shut down.
*******s.
(I know, old news but it's still making me angry)

Microsoft sabotages Sony's factories?More a case of "don't support the expensive, tricky to make standard, no matter how good the quality is"
VHS vs. Betamax, anyone?
It's leading to their downfall, remember what happened to the Dreamcast, it was highly advertised, and it turned out to be a HUGE FLOP!!!! (I believe it shouldn't have happened.)

And you know why the PS3 has Blu-Ray, don't you?
Call me a cynic, but I don't think it's anything to do with storage or game experience. Oh, no, I'm going to say it's Sony's way of trying to get an early foothold for their next generation DVD, by sneaking players into people's homes in the form of PS3s.
And yet, Sony still jack up the price of the PS3 and delay the launch, and then say "yes, but that's because of the Blu-Ray". We don't want your Blu-Ray, and we certainly didn't ask for it. There's no way we should be charged for it.

Yeah, that was all too obvious, if you do actually know about computers.

A smart (as in sneaky) move then? :p From a businessy point of view anyway
Well, I think bluray is dumb. I'd rather swap DVD's during gameplay should that be nessisary.

Yes, that in and of itself is a pretty smart business move (although if they had a bigger market share in consoles it could be considered abuse of a monopoly), but to then expect the consumer to wait and pay extra for the blu-ray drive that Sony would like us all to have is a bit harsh.

Well, I can certainly see why Sony thinks that everyone will want Blu-Ray.
I mean, you can watch such hilarious hits as RV and Little Man!
And seeing as how whenever I tell someone about Blu-Ray they usually have no idea what I'm talking about, I guess Sony is doing one heckuva job getting the word out on this great format to the average consumer!

I think the average consumer got bored of this kind of thing after Betamax and Minidisc and DVD-A Versus Super CD and so forth and so on ad infinitum. There are very few early adopters left. People, myself included, tend to wait until the market picks a winner.

The shame of that is that the market is not always "right"...
There are lots of products "chosen" by the market that are bogus and have much better competition...
The one thing I am worried about is how many movie-producing companies have already agreed to sell out to the bluray.

Then why haven't I seen any ads for GOOD movies released to Blu-Ray?
The format has been out for half a year. You'd think that would be enough time.
I'm against Blu-Ray mostly because I'm annoyed by all of the pretentious types that say how it's already won over HDDVD because it's more powerful and has more support.
They seem to forget that power and support doesn't mean crap if people don't care enough to buy a $1000+ player for it.

True, but democracy has shown us that even if everyone adopted early and "voted" the outcome would still be decided by industry money.
