Note: a) i installed word-for-word from the nana guide (for win XP)
b) i checked the corresponding game version, and it's 3.0

After saving, when I press one of the buttons to play W:A with edited settings int he fiddler (either auto load or manual) it gives me an Access violation at address ____ (then more). Furthermore when I enter the game by clicking the silkworm OK button the settings are not edited in-game.

Whats the problem? Thx

The problem is is that you made a tiny mistake in the hex editing.

Thanks. Well, it got me as far as the game this time. Now, when loading here's what happens:

Pie progresses very slowly. Suddenly it goes backwards a notch, then it crashes (windows error report).

I must be sooo close... what's wrong with it now?

thx

That sounds like your CD drive came upon a bit of corrupt data, though I'm not sure if that's what happened. Has this happened to someone else?

Set "water colour" to blue

Blue water fixed it on MY map. For test purposes I was using the demo on the fiddler, now I realize the settings cannot be changed + saved. (and its auto red). Mine works fine now :)

thank you

Ah. Nice solving, Muzer.

The Sold Out softwarer version of the game is identified by the fiddler as "European Original", which has all the waters. However, it contains only blue water (to create space for the sold out software installer, I guess). Therefore, our brilliantly flexible game searches for the water colour, fails to find it, and thinks, "screw this, I'll just crash".

Well, yeah, it wasn't designed to be screwed around with by external software. :p Really, it's the Fudge Boy's fault, not Team17's. :)

<plug rank="shameless">
You can change the water colour to anything you want with my water colour editor (http://maplecenter.net/misc/). It should even work with older versions of W:A!

Yeah, but then you'd have to do more hex editing with 73|-| |=!|)|)13|2* so it somehow runs wormkit.exe but patches wa.exe.

*fiddler is 1337 so I wrote it so.

Not really - you'd just have to use the "start W:A manually" option.

WormKit.exe is just a launcher - it launches WA.exe + HookLib.dll, then terminates.

Good point.

I'll try that.

Does wormkit search the registry to find WA.exe, or does it searh the folder it's in? If it's the former, you'll have to modify it slightly

Latter. But you can make it run any WA.exe - just drag-and-drop your WA executable over WormKit.exe.

Take a note that you can even do this with WWP, other games or even generic programs. But I only see potential in this with only the FileOverride, and maybe AntiAltTab modules.

So... I can use file override with WWP! WOW! I get to see that blue2 water that those people were talking about!!!!
