Is this the fiddler that only works with the first WA version?

No, it works with versions up to v3.0.

And the first beta was?
The first beta was v.3.0.5.0 beta 1.

Meaning 3.0.0.0 is the first WA version applying the old old team17 patch?

v3.0 is the only official patch.
v3.0.5.0 (=v3.5) beta 1 and beta 2 are the first official beta updates.
(There was a beta 3, only the exe released though.)

All these have been made by T17 themselves.
From then on, Deadcode has been producing the beta updates.
Check the readme (ftp://ftp.team17.com/pub/t17/patches/pc/WA_Readme-3.6.26.5_Beta.zip)!

Damn sure it is!
Ed Webb has made a comback and has restarted Wormsmart (http://www.edwardwebb.btinternet.co.uk/wormsmart/).
You can get lots of the old fiddles there.

Also, Ed has made an update for the Fiddler so it now is much easier to install & run.
I have tested it, but have no idea when it's going to be released, if ever.

Also, there are talks to make the Fiddler compatible with the beta updates at all.
This may just have sprung from my wildest dreams...

Running Fiddler on XP would be a big hassle for someone not too good with computers would it? Because i read somewhere how to do it and it involved Hex editing etc... Is that the only way?

You're probably speaking of this tutorial (http://www.nanacide.com/wahelp/tpp-fiddler.php).

It's the only way at the moment.
As I said, Ed Webb has modified the Fiddler (from the latest v4.0 to v4.1) so the hassle of hex editing the Fiddler.exe and patching the game with Silkworm drops out.
He'll probably put everything into a handy installer, I'd guess.

I have no idea if and when he is going to release it.
If he does, it will show up on Wormsmart (http://www.edwardwebb.btinternet.co.uk/wormsmart/).
