Oh, man, what a shame for the Virtual Boy...The 3d effect would have been REALLY cool...And the Virtual Boy really needed a GOOD game.
Mmm.
Shame.
(NOT sarcastic, it's just a dreamy sort of way)

Worms was going to be released on the VirtualBoy, however once word got 'round that the VirtualBoy wouldn't see a UK/Europe release, development was scrapped before anything actually got off the ground.
The quality of games on the console is irrelevant. Would you play the PS2 if it made your eyes bleed?

It is unknown if the game was planned to include a multiplayer option, maybe even using the link cable. Although it would have likely been included, since, thanks to malicious joy, "Worms" has it's special appeal in multiplayer games.
Dammit, when will people realise this?
Turn based. Does not require multiple systems and a link cable. Pass it around, dammit, and save a fortune.

Hmm...
Hotseat games on the PC, Hotpotato games on consoles with controllers...
Would it have been called Hothat games for the VirtualBoy? :D

I don't think that would work as well when the screen is attached to a big helmet. To be honest, since Worms on the Virtual Boy would presumably have been 2D -- I can't imagine it could handle much of a 3D version -- I can't imagine anyone wanting to play it over a NES or SNES version where you can watch other peoples' shots, in colour, without getting a migraine.

Oh, sorry, I forgot that the VirtualBoy was VR.
I think my point still stands for the general case, but I probably should have thought before barging in here :o

it was more of a VR look a like, giving the impression of 3d. thereby, the thing is pretty havey so you had to lay on your back while playing and get headaches...

Er... you know VR doesn't actually construct a real 3D world and transport you to it, yes? It's just a couple of screens giving the impression of 3D. That's all any VR system can do.

up untill they start connecting directly to the optical nerve... which is a little way off.... still not actually being in another world, but that would so be cool... and ever so slightly scary.

Nah, they'll plug it directly on your brain. Then computers will rebel and go into a war with humans, then we will think we're so clever and block the sun with lots of clouds, then they'll use the VR system to build a fake world and lock us up in it and use our bodies as batteries. Then Neo comes and that's when the FUN starts kickin'!

Was there ever a Worms game for MegaDrive? That would've been cool... I think I might still have my MegaDrive somewhere in my attic. Aah the good ol' days of Sonic the Hedgehog and defeating Robotnic for the first time.

Yes, the original Worms 1.
