This is simply a contest to see if you can be the best one:

Rules:
-What you have to do is complete a task trying to get the best score.
-I'll send a replay containing what to do, what you need is to extract the map, the scheme, and read how to prepare the game. Try downloading it to your PC, and then, right click at it. If you can't see the replay, get the last patch here: Click here! (http://forum.team17.co.uk/showpost.php?p=459512&postcount=2)
-If you make it, attach the replay, so we can see the score. Only one entry for each person at a challenge. If you make a better score, you can use only the best score.
-You can be in every challenge if you want to.
-I'll be sending the challenges separately.
-Also, the 3 best scores are listed in the first post.
-Please name the files like mines so there is no confusion.

Best times!

How to prepare:
Teleport the worms like in the replay. If you want to make the replay with the second team, make them skip go, or make the game a tie, and you will be first then.

Wath to do:
Prepare the jet pack, and place a mine at the left worm. then, when it blows up, go through the hole without leaving the jet pack.

Goal:
You must reach the water, and dive!!
(yes, you must suicide :p )

Score:
You have 255 seconds of retreat time.
The more retreat time you have left, the better score you get!!
Example: In my replay I have 216,98 seconds left (the last time showed before "diving").

How to prepare:
Teleport the worms like in the replay, in the platform.

What to do:
Use the bazooka to hit all pacmans with it. They don't need to be fully destroyed, just being hit.

Goal:
You must destroy all 10 pacmans, and then jump into the water (Explained in score)

Score:
The smaller total recording time wins (Initial teleport also included in it)
The time is the one showed at the same instant when the splash of the worm sounds.
Example: in my replay I have a time of 4:32,20
This can be seen easily by pressing "s" in the replay to see it frame per frame.

Wow Lex! Your zero-turn-time BnG scheme has obviously honed your skills to excellency. Playing that scheme with you the other day gave me some good practice, which is probably why I could come close to your time.

Here's a tool-assisted run of the jetpack challenge.

Metal Alex
17 Dec 2005, 01:58
Wow! nice replays there!
Also, with tool-assisted you mean repeating the wrong parts and such?
If so, I'll put it separately...

Also, I'm calculating all the times in the same way. If I put a different one from the one you said, it's because you didn't calculate it my way (Same chances for all!). However, I try to explain as good as I can how to find the time.

How to prepare:
Just teleport the worms at the right side of the screen, on the grey platform.

What to do:
Throw your innocent partner off the screen as far as you can.

Goal:
Achieve the best distance using as many turns as you need, any weapons, and dying if necessary.

Score:
the highest distance shown before the worm reaches the water wins. It doesn't matter wich worm is.
For example, in my replay, I have a score of 103m. (Let's say meters, for example)

How to prepare:
Just teleport the worms like in the replay: the one playing, at the platform. The other, in the audience, where number 10 is.

What to do:
Fly between the circles with numbers, in order, from one to ten. Yes, number 10 is crashing in the audience... to the worm of the other team:p . Oh, and he must die.

Goal:
Get the best time to do all the track, before the super sheep timer (20 seconds) runs out.

Score:
The more sheep time left before it blows up, the better.
For example, in my replay, I have a score of 4,70.

My first banana cannon entry had 7 skims. :p:eek: You are so right. I didn't watch it because your 1740 superceded it...

Your seven-skimmer beat Djoszee's, too.

Too bad that there's a max speed of 32 pixels per frame (160 "meters" per second), which makes 24 mines yield pretty much the same distance as a banana.

Could be a way to compute optimization level of a roping timetrial replay, given the minimum time needed to go through the whole path (at 16 pixels per frame)

Metal Alex

Except that that replay was not "special" as in no extern tools have been used.

Well, it was special just because the audience seemed to be having its revenge:p. In fact, that replay is still in the top 3, until it's beated or improved, but I was thinking in including other curious ones like the skims. However, if you don't agree, I have no problem in removing those kind of replays from the Special section.

Metal Alex

How to prepare:
Just teleport the worms like in the replay: Up there, in the platform that has "start" on it.

What to do:
Use the rope to land on top of all the platforms in the proper order. You must do it in the same turn. If you loose the turn, you are allowed to start over (yes, from the begging) with the other worm, and teleport the previous one to the start to retry, if the other one also fails. When you finally reach number 5, rush to the "exit" marks, to the water. It doesn't matter When does the turn end. you just have to reach the water.

Goal:
Land t the top of the platforms in order, from 1 to 5, and then, reach the water.

Score:
The last turn time shown (in grey) in the replay, is the valid one. Get the lowest to reach the first place!
For example, in my replay, I have a score of 101,62

The verb, "land", could be interpreted to mean, "touch terrain", and that's how I interpreted it, as that's faster. He didn't say anywhere in his description that I had to detach my rope.

Also, you may want to note that he also said, "land in the platforms", which would be impossible. ;) Plus, he used the word, "reach", in the main description.

Actually, I meant to detatch the rope. However, I put my replay for some reason. If you find any toubles on the meaning of the challenge, just see it to know it better. I said to LAND, because it is the easiest way to know if you really reached it or if you just were too near. Also, It actually is possible to shoot from the platform again with the rope... What did you mean?

Oh... so those (I'm sorry), are not valid...
However, the way to end, like that launching yourself so the timer stops, is valid, only if you get to the water...

Also, It actually is possible to shoot from the platform again with the rope... What did you mean?:confused:You said, "land in the platforms". Landing inside the platforms is impossible.

I did watch your replay, and I thought that you only detached your rope because you were trying to show an example of the challenge, rather than trying to achieve a best time. Nowhere in the description does it mention that you must detach your rope.I said to LAND, because it is the easiest way to know if you really reached it or if you just were too near.It is, however, it's not nearly as fun to watch or play. Besides, you could count the worm's sprite overlapping the platform as having "reached" the platform.

Then it could start the "well, I think that it reached it by one pixel", or not, or wathever. However, I'll try to fix that. I'm spanish, so sorry for those huge grammar errors.

What to do:
You have to build your own path to reach the girder where I skip go in the replay, using girders.

Goal:
You must skip go while standing in the platform before mentioned.

Score:
The first total time shown in the replay, when the turn timer becomes grey when you skip go, is the valid one.
For example, in my replay, I have a score of 1:18,62

Well, the time was actually of 56,84... Yeah... that's better for you :)
And, is it me or the worm walks backwards?

And, is it me or the worm walks backwards?
indeed it does. As you can read in the readme this became possible with the previous patch. Hold shift as you walk :)

some more people should attempt this one, at least it's better then the rope one

How is it better than the rope one!? The rope one was amazing, and the map was extremely good. :D

How to prepare:
Just teleport the worms like in the replay: one at each part on each tree.

What to do:
You must kill all the ducks with the shotgun. You can leave your spot from the tree, but be careful: only 10 seconds per turn.

Goal:
Shot all ducks (16 in total), and then, skip go at the next turn.

Score:
The first total time shown in the replay, when the turn timer becomes grey when you skip go, is the valid one.
For example, in my replay, I have a score of 3:17,64

OMG!!! It isn't!! you should die now!!!

Nah... kidding :P
don't worry about the name, but you can also try to attach the file. Since it's not too big, there's no problem with it. To do so, scroll down a bit when writing the reply. Try it next time. Oh, and your time was exactly of 2:15,48

It is an attachment. Look at the link location carefully. It's just in another thread.Very curious. It seems that the attachment is in this thread, but using a different kind of attachment syntax that can be quoted, as such:and an udnder constuction challenge by me :)

26339But it's buggy... when quoted, the link text just shows "Attachment x" instead of the filename. Shoobert, how did you get it to attach that way?

BTW Shoobert, you named two of your files very incorrectly. The ' mark can only mean "minutes", which I borrowed from the degrees-minutes-seconds syntax, e.g. 23°45'18" means 23 degrees, 45 minutes, 18 seconds (which converts to 23+(45+18/60)/60 = 23.755°). That syntax is intended for expressing angles, so it's unorthodox to use it for time, but the colon ":" is not allowed in filenames in many OSes including Windows, so I think the apostrophe makes a good substitute.

Depending on your country, the decimal point may be a period "." or a comma "," (in your case it's a comma). The filenames should be:
#4 Shoobert (8,78).WAgame (http://forum.team17.co.uk/attachment.php?attachmentid=26337&d=1135884352)
#6 Shoobert (52,80).WAgame (http://forum.team17.co.uk/attachment.php?attachmentid=26339&d=1135886590)

aaah... The good old times... Just remembering this, and even though I can't feel like hold this, I just remembered this suits PERFECTLY on the challenge base. If anyone from there sees this, feel free to include my challenges... (These are competitive, more than hard to perform, but can do the trick)

Your best bet would probably be to get in contact with the active TCB staffers in the Challenge Forge (http://www.thechallengebase.com/forum_topics.php?forum=4&page=1) forum and arrange the details like challenge rules and difficulty there. Make sure you've read the sticky thread before unveiling things.

I approve of the idea, although things could take a while because most of us are lazy busy and lacking motivation somewhat.

I posted it there, as you said. Also, I know what you mean with lack of motivation... Happened to me here. I had to review everyone on myself, and I ended losing interest.

I should reinstall WA again... since my laptop's hard drive melted, I didn't play again.
