I was just on WormNET, and someone told me that he played someone that had batty ropes. I asked him to look what version it was. And it was this:
3.5 ?eta 3pre17(BATTYROPE3) I'm not going to tell the name of the one who had it. I don't want to get anyone into trouble. I just want more information about this.
Last time (and the first time) i played something with 3.6.24.1(teststuff2). He was a beta tester tho (it was M3ntal who was so kind to let me and some others try it out).

am i one of the people you played i have the bootlegged batty ropes
the 3.5 version *is* battyrope, the original. The one i have is a testpatch, which includes the battyrope features amongst other stuff.

I wouldn't worry about it Wormtrix. I know quite a few people with what they say is the batty ropes patch. Some can get it to play online and others can't. It is funny playing it a shopper though ;)

That reminds me, I need to get the newest test patch. The projection stuff doesn't work for some weapons (e.g. mortar) for me.

Why would I do that? Search through the forums, it's stated in a bunch of places by different people who the beta testers are. In fact, enough people know I am that I get random people trying to access "http://www.wwwclan.de/battyropes.zip" (which doesn't exist, people are trying the URL anyway because they think it's hidden there :S).
Let's see a recent chat log with me and Deadcode inside WA:
[00:12:32.94] SargeMcCluck..Deadcode: In that custom WA you sent me, i noticed that there's no weapon trail thing for the mortar
[00:12:42.26] Deadcode..SargeMcCluck: huh, that's odd. I'll take a look
[00:12:42.26] Deadcode..SargeMcCluck: ohh
[00:12:50.80] ••• Eldy (sCa`Cueshark) starts turn
[00:12:58.96] Deadcode..SargeMcCluck: no trajectory plotting?
[00:13:00.58] Deadcode..SargeMcCluck: I hadn't put it in for mortar yet
[00:13:02.00] Deadcode..SargeMcCluck: I have now
[00:13:03.28] SargeMcCluck..Deadcode: aha
[00:13:05.02] Deadcode..SargeMcCluck: I'll update you
[00:13:08.04] SargeMcCluck..Deadcode: Cool
But then I had connection problems (like always at the moment) and I didn't get an update. M3ntal's post reminded me, and I made my post so that I would remember because Deadcode was not on at the time. I forget things like that regularly (hence me not having the updated version that I'm talking about), so I made the post to allow me to remember.
Why the hell would I want people to know I'm a beta tester anyway? I don't play worms anymore outside of testing the beta, and even then it's rare. Nearly all of you are morons and I'm bored of the game anyway. Can you think of any reason why I'd want a bunch of morons to think "wow, he made friends with Deadcode, evidently he is "teh leet""?
No. Neither can I.
If you're going to troll, at least troll properly. Posts like that just say "I'm trying to troll but I suck too much to even do that".
Well, you could always go under an alias and join the First Blood league... :p :D
Well, if you really can't remember it, then write it down on some piece of paper. There's no need of rubbing it into my/users face.
No hard feelings, just my opinion.

I was just in a match where vsFaTaL was using 3.5 ßeta 3pre17[BATTYROPE3]. Is he supposed to have it?

It's the same version as i got. But mine isn't able to go online. You know that Fatal Error thing? But offline is cool too.
In game i see the 3.6.19.19 and when i extract the log i see 3.5 one...
THis is so weird?

I actually managed to get myself a copy of BattyRopes. I used it once or twice, I hope it's togglable, because it makes bad ropers a bit better (You stay on your rope after turn ends, instead of falling, possibly to your demise)

I have exactly the same version of batty ropes. You can find it by googleing :p
It's very funny.
No i have a 2nd copy of W:A on my pc. Theres the Patch 3.0.5.0. With this one you can go online with this batty ropes version.
But one question... why doesnt't Deadcode want to make Batty Ropes Public? It is so good... too good to keep it :p.
Is this another of those threads where we get teased?
3.5 ßeta 3pre17[BATTYROPE3]
works fine and dandy online and is pretty tedius to play :( i always killed myself due to no speed limitation...

Aren't you confusing "batty ropes" with the tool-assist versions?
Oh could be, what are the reasons of batty ropes not being public by now then?

Bugs, I suppose. For instance the one that makes crates appear above hanging worms and automatically get collected. Work is concentrated on different stuff at the moment, though.

There are certainly bugs with the battyropes version. And there's no way to turn it off, either, which isn't ideal.
Bugs eh? Worms also has bugs, and it's still being sold, as long as something is usable bugs are not a problem. Even less when it's clear you're using a Beta of something and are warned before hand there's bugs.
Not a valid reason in my book.
AndrewTaylor

"Bugs" isn't perhaps the most specific word, though, is it?
There's a difference between bugs as in "if you use this particular graphics card then if you stand exactly here and aim all the way up, then quickly press F2, ENTER, F5, F5, RIGHT and then backflip twice you can get a free cluster bomb" and... well, you know... real bugs.
So you mean real bugs that are a treat to the community? Or real bugs that are real because they're really annoying?
Please elaborate.
He means real bugs as in things that are really easy to run into during normal usage.
You mean bugs everyone expects when using a program with the name Beta on it?
I mean, is that really the reason why it's not public yet? Because I highly doubt anyone is working on fixing those bugs right now, so why not let people have fun with it, even if it's buggy? It's not like you're selling a bugless product. Sigh.

Probably the only real reason "Batty Ropes" isn't accessible in public betas, is because we'd have to add a scheme option for that. And that involves a new scheme file format, squeezing somewhere a button to turn it on/off, etc...
There mustn't be a button for Turn on/off and so on...
It would only be cool, if we (the normal Worms Players) get the versions of Batty Ropes like the Beta Testers have.
It is nasty that the Beta Tester get all of these things...
I think everyone wants to be a beta tester, too... only because of batty ropes... This sucks... Why do the Beta Testers get en advantage to the other players?
Noone would care if there are a few bugs... Thats only for fun...
And in W:A were at the beginning bugs, too... and noone really cared... People also played it and it was funny...
Pls Deadcode, think about it...
Or say 10 good reasons why the Beta Tester can have it and why you do not make it free for every Player who like Worms and who want to have more fun?
And why does Deadcode almost never say something on this forum?

I don't understand why you would if someone came up to you and asked to have it.
Aslong as people are aware they have to backup some files in order to be able to uninstall it etc..

As much as some people might like Battyropes, I think it sucks bigtime. For me it's not a problem if it was to come out in a later version of W:A as a scheme option, because you have the ability to disable it. When you guys use that beta, every player in the game (even if you are not the host) will be _forced_ to play with Battyropes. Which sucks. It also emulates to a lower version, so there's less bugfixes and such.
You see, when those things become a scheme-option, everybody is free to choose whether he wants to play with these functions or not (as long as he is the host, that is). If not, the choice depends on some random newb bringing it into the game. If it becomes a scheme-option it can be used with the newest bugfixes and such, which is good. So please, don't release non-public betas.
By the way, not everybody likes the 'functions' that Battyropes brings in the game. So even if you have managed to find the patch, only use it offline. Whether it may be fun or not, it _will_ make the game more buggy/glitchy for ALL players in the game. Not only for you.

But is it sure, that it comes in a later version of W:A...
If yes... when???

Yes. The only way BattyRopes should be released is as an option. At present it's an entirely seperate version of W:A, which isn't practical -- you can't just branch a project like W:A just to change one thing because you'll end up with a hundred versions. The alternative, adding a field to scheme files and adding a button to the frontend, is work which would be made redundant anyway when the new scheme format comes in, and in the meantime it'd stop scheme editors working, so presumably the plan is to leave it until that's done when it can be added more easily. I suspect it's mainly for that reason that the bugs remain -- as long as it's not released there's very little point fixing it.

why not just create a channel with batty ropes or instead have two executables that only if the host has on can use batty ropes in game.
Ehrm...
Everyone who uses the latest v3.6.26.5 beta update is a beta tester.
What you mean are alpha testers.

Ghost;563754']why not just create a channel with batty ropes
That would work, although then people would want a channel with batty ropes and rope knocking, and so forth, and it'd do nothing to solve the extra-work-that-will-be-rendered-pointless-by-later-updates issue.
Having two executables is really not practical. It'd be more practical to have a popup before the frontend appears saying "would you like batty ropes today?".
just trash online support then release it... that way it never works online till it needs to... and people can enjoy it offline... and if it is trashed enough it would deter hackers from fixing the online code.
