Game starting... and quiting. [Archive]

First, Worms 4: Mayhem is a super-game. It has worked fine on our computer since I bought it a while ago.
Until recently...
a few days ago, I as I've done many times before, I put the disc where it's supposed to be, the launcher opened as always, I clicked on PLAY...
waited...
The loading screen with the sentry gun was shown...
waited...
Back to desktop.
What the...? The game was loading the second before! I didn't to anything!
I haven't removed or downloaded anything special since then, or just before this happened.

So, my question is: Why does this happen to me? I wanna play Worms. I've got only two trophies left... I've tried to start the games many times now, without success.
Please help me, guys.

im with you on this one m8t ive been asking about this problem for over a week, i think its time that our game creators stepped in to help us out
(please i mean). TEAM 17 we need your help we've done nothing to our machines to cause this problem so the ball has been passed in to your court.

Well, with the other games (WWP for instance) it was a DirectX problem....

Has anyone looked at their \Worms 4 Mayhem\xom.log? If it's starting to load it should be writing something out to the log file, it may provide some insight.

Where should I look aside the Worms dir and it's subs?

Try looking in the windows folder. And from the log file. it seems that your savegame is corrupt :-/ (savegame.xom)

u probely miss files or you have to low memory thats what i think

Got the same problem here... Hate it when things you pay for don't work...
I'm sure you guys will have a solution for this problem?

Ok, I've reinstalled the game and... well, it turns out there was a problem with the save file... thingy. I had to start over, but at least the game works again. :)

hi there,
i had a similar problem on the pc of my girlfriend (worms as christmas-presents, you know :D). The xom.log file looked similar with the savegame not loadable and some other errors. We first suspected the graphics-card, an old voodoo5500, which makes other errors as well, but at least ran the game untill it suddenly stopped working. Before that we encountered some sound-issues...
What made the game work was reducing the audio hardware-acceleration down one notch. So maybe it ll work for others too.

well, you dont need to look anywhere for something that's .cpp, seeing as that is a C++ file (aka one of the files that holds the original code for the game. the error is still there from testing probably). whatever that cpp file did, I assume you have to avoid. if you say it's something about your save game, then it'd be good to have Team17 look into this, if it's so important...

EDIT: wow, that was stupid... looking for the savegame file? that cant be good. help us, Team17!

I can't run Worms 4 because my cd key doesn't work!
That protection system:
the key you entered is wrong or mistyped. enter a validi key and try again.
Can somebody, somehow help me?

You could try taking it back to the shop and explaining the problem. They'll probably exchange it if you still have all the various bits. Though it occurs to me that Worms4 doesn't come on a CD.

yeah i know, but they ask me:
enter a disc key for the disc labelled DISC1
my mmistake it's not a cd it's dvd ofcourse i know how much i payed for it!
