directx 9
what could i do ??? anyone any answers ??
thanks,

maybe, just maybe, it could be dx9... try installing DX9c
or it might be your graphics card
or the fact that your pc has an intel chip (not likely)...
worms 2 works on my machine with the 1.05 patch, dx9.0c, 61.77 detonator drivers on a geforce 4ti, win xp pro sp2
directx 9.0c is a hot tip! :)
GEFORCE!!! :D
If you have the Sold Out software version, it seems more likely to work with XP.. (it comes with a patch ;) )
you need the patch i had the same prob then when i installed the patch it worked fine.

Nah, its just that I hate intel...
It might pay to update your drivers, even if your computer is new. Quite a few pc companies neglect to install the newest driver of computers.
I have the same problem on WWP, does anyone have a solution?
During the game load the screen turns pink with a black area in the middle (where the loading graph should be). When it finishes loading, the screen goes all black but the game is running fine, because I hear the sounds. :(
Thanks
kill useless processes and try again.

i found a solution for the black screen when entering the game.
First of all i updated the vga drivers (ATI 9600). Nothing happened...
Direct X was the final version, so no update needed...
BUT...
In Display Properties
/Settings
[Advanced]
/Troubleshoot
there is a check box under Hardware Acceleration
Enable write combining
UNCHECK this , restart as instructed and voila !
Everything works just fine! (at least for me...)
WRONG !!! (duh...)
Ok, try the above (just to be sure) and if nothing happens revert the settings as it was.
My problem solved with a totally different way...
I was trying to play WWP while listening music with Winamp...
I do not know why, but if i close Winamp the game plays as it should..
Tried some Winamp Settings like unchecking always on top, disabling scrolling, sound settings but nothing made the difference...
I have to close the Winamp every time i play WWP.
I must mention that problem occurs in WinXP Pro SP2, with ATI Radeon 9600 (drv Catalyst 7.1), DirextX 9.0c.
I have another computer with the same configuration but older drivers and different settings and the game plays just fine.
I think it must be a Win Update that causes this behaviour.

im aware of the age of this post but id still like to point out that this is for WWP and not W2.

Ihave same problem, but it start working when i copy all folders from the cd-drive. At least it working and that enough to me :)
that's the problem, your computers are to brand new for the game. i had te same error in wp and wa, but wa we have beta patches that are up to date so you can play with them. wp have no updated patches that are compatible with the display adapter.

I have to close the Winamp every time i play WWP.yes, winamp is known for causing this problem
along with web browsers, microsoft office, etc.
and yes, the only guaranteed way to solve the problem is to shut the offending program off
